Please answer me -- overclock but undervolt -- safe? How much? by Green Xenon [Radium]
Hi: Please answer my questions below. Please don't neglect this message. Is it possible to significantly decrease the heat generated by a "Pentium 4 570J/670 3.8 GHz processor" by using extreme undervolting without underclocking? How far can undervolting go before it causes trouble? What...

Intel p4 retail heatsink by Max Coppin
I'm about to re-attach my heatsink to my CPU and have just started to clean them up. On the bottom of the heatsink is a metal pad that did have a thick black substance on it that I've cleaned off (and off the CPU). Should I remove the metal sticker-type thing on the heatsink or leave it on there?...

Performance Acceleration Technology (P.A.T) by Wayne Youngman
Hi, just trying to get some *confirmation* about this tech. I understand that it is meant to be a bonus feature of the Canterwood chipset that somehow makes the memory work faster. What I wont to know now is whether this feature only works when you run your FSB and memory bus *synchronously*...

Using a P4 with 400mHz FSB on a 533 mHz M/B by Gaz
hi all I currently own a P4 1.7 Northwood 512 kb cache, with 512 SDR Ram, the M/B has a FSB of 400mHz. I 'd like to upgrade my system by getting a M/B that will support DDR Ram, but i'd like to keep my P4 1.7 for now. If I buy a 533mHz or 800 mHz M/B will my processor be compatible? Might it be...

Adding RAM to NF7-S by Bust Fresh
I currently have 2X256MB PC3500 Corsair XMS installed on my NF7-S. I want to upgrade to 1GB RAM total. I only want to buy 1 additional 512MB module. Will 2X256 + 512 work in this config? I know I can fit 3 on there, but will there be any conflicts? Thanks

How to overclock Celery566 w/ MSI mobo? by noob
I have a MSI MS-6368 mobo that I've installed a 566 celeron in. However, the only options in the BIOS (Award V.6) are to increase FSB to 68/34 or 75/37. How can I get this sucker to 100Mhz FSB? This is a fairly new BIOS (dated last summer), but I'm disappointed in its overclocking...

Are we approaching a physical barrier of the CPU speed? by Samir Ribic
The electromagnetic waves in conductor have a limited speed of about v=2*10^8 m/s. The area of the common chip is about 1 cm^2, so we can assume that electromagnetic wave has to pass about s=10^-2 m inside chip. I will not take relativistic mechanic, because electromagnetic waves have fixed speed....

how hard would it be(if possible) to modify bios/microcode?/circuitry to allow 150mhz memory on a 133mhz limited bx board? it can't be that physics play major role in this limitation, can it?
