Core 2 Duo Retail HS/Fan by Bob Johnson[_2_]
My 4500 is coming today! Does Intel still use the "tape" between the cpu and the hs? Does it come pre-assembled? I'll be using the stock HS so should I lap the CPU and use good thermal compound? thx

What Core 2 To Buy Now? by Bob Johnson[_2_]
The C2 2160 looks like a dream according to Toms' and other reviews. Are all samples going to OC to 3.0 w/ a good MB and stock cooling? Or is it luck of the draw and getting a good "stepping"? My guru says the lack of L2 cache is a real big deal and that a slower speed but higher cache...

An easy WC solution for beginners by M L
I just built a Q6600 based PC with a very specific goal : online chess-playing-programs competitions. The needs were : as fast as possible and stable for long (several hours) sessions at 100% processor load but no need at all for powerful graphics. As it was my first PC building from scratch I...

Gainward GF 8600 GTS 512MB temerature and OC-ing by Rayn
Bought it recently and was wondering what is the normal (maximum) temerature under load? Yeasterday I ran rthdribl (gpu stress test) and it got up to 85C (!!!). Default clock and open case.. After closing the case it got to 72-75C (must be better air flow). So should i be worried or is this...

Good Quad Core Motherboard? by S. Smith
I'm looking for a good Quad Core motherboard to support an Intel Q6600 CPU. Ideally one that is good for overclocking. I prefer Abit boards, but am open to suggestions. I currently have an Abit AW9D-Max board with an Intel E6600 overclocked to 3 Ghz and it works flawlessly. Abit claims that...

Newbie question (sorry) by bornfree
These are my questions - overclocking your CPU Why would overclocking cause your system to crash or bluescreen? Is it possible for an experienced over clocker over clock a system and be pretty much certain it will be stable?

Help! PC shuts down during games by bornfree
After about 15 minutes of game playing, my PC turns off. Even with the case wide open and all fans on. I have replaced the thermal paste on my GPA cooler. I have run stress tests on my CPU, it seems to be doing fine. (55c under load) What else could it possibly be?

Overclocking a Q6600 on Asus P5KC by Herzog
Hi, as subject... it runned at 3 GHZ nicely for a while, but suddently it started rebooting as soon as Windows loaded with a blue screen and c000021a error. I suspect it has something to do with voltage leaks since it started giving error when i removed and reinstalled a KVM switch.. as soon as...

Experiences: Q6600 on P5N32-E SLI by [email protected]
Hello there, I just got my new mobo and CPU at friday and played Crysis in joy the whole weekend. Well, it wasn't all that joyful from the start. First thing I noticed after installing the new stuff was that the PS/2 keyboard did not work. HOLY ****, it's a freaking PS/2 keyboard and it does not...

Case fan by Travis King
I pulled a 120mm fan out of a bad power supply. The fan itself works great, and it appears to be of good quality, so I am wondering if there was a way that I could use it as an additional case fan. It only has a 2-pin power connector on the fan. What would I need in order to use it if I could...

Difference between Q6600 and Xeon 3220 by Daniel Albuschat
Hi there, since a friend asked me yesterday whether to buy a Xeon or a Core 2 Quad and I had no clue what the difference might be, I thought I should ask here. Is it the same CPU, labeled differently? Is there a possibility of better overclock-rates with the Xeon? I haven't found any benchmarks...

Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA VIA PT880 Ultra.... by ~misfit~[_6_]
Oh well, after achieving what I consider to be a reasonable overclock on my "non-overclockable" ASUS P5PE-VM getting my E4500 to 2.93GHz at stock voltage it seems that I'm going to be getting an Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA VIA PT880 Ultra anyway! Here's me, quite happy with the P5PE-VM/E4500 @ 2.93...
