Problem with Lightscribe by
[email protected]
I have a new LG SATA GH22LS50 burner with which I wanted to experiment
to try Lightscribe to label disks. I ordered some Verbatim
Lightscribe DVD-R disks at the same time. I also bought a few HP
DVD+R Lightscribe disks, which I started using first.
All went well. I recorded one set of...

Seagate 7200.10 HDDs more reliable ? by
[email protected]
Recently, a friend told me that he'd heard talk (not something
he saw on the net or read in a magazine) that Seagate Barracuda
7200.10 drives are more reliable than their other 7200 rpm
models. Is there any truth to this ?
I already had a general idea about the differences in performance
(quite a...

IDE/Sata by
Rudy
I am building a system with IDE & Sata HDD's. I want to install the OS on
the IDE. Would I be better to install the IDE drive & OS first and add the
Sata after everything is up and running? I'm wondering if XP will pick up
the Sata on it's own without sata drivers being installed. Another...

Ritek DVD-R flakey? by
Noozer
I'm cleaning up my file library and I just came across a Ritek DVD-R that
looks fine according to the directory structure, but about 80% of the files
I read from it are coming up as all zeros.
I copied the contents of the disk to my hard drive without errors. All the
files that I expect to find...

An unknown repeated-reboot test program. by
[email protected]
Hi,
My family recently had to send their desktop PC back to the
manufacturers (a small/medium sized OEM) with a hardware fault. They
returned it claiming that they could find no fault, so I'm trying to
get some information on what they used to test the machine and on a
couple of odd statements in...

Can PC write using SD Memory adapter in the USB? by
Andy[_10_]
I have seen these SD card adapters to plug a card into the USB
port. (Instead of using a lead to transfer the data from a device
such as a digita camera.)
In general do these apaters permit the PC to write to the SD Card?

Both audio and video distorted by
adriatikus
Hi,
The problem I have concerns an old computer (~ 2001), and it's about
playing audio and video files. The symptoms are pitches and crackles
in audio playback (not only in mp3's or audio CDs, but even during the
Windows log in sound, or the "click sound" when using the mouse). The
video problems...

hard drive is freezing by

A friend of mine has a pc that's not booting, so I took out the HD and
connected it to my PC, using a special USB cable, and my PC says it
found the new hardware, even shows the correct name and model number
when it pops up the little balloon in the systray. But then when I try
to open file...

External hard drive always on? by
dennis
Is this a good thing to do. I have an external hard drive and have it always
powered-up. It is quite warm since there are not heat sinks or cooling fans
that I am aware of.
I'm just wondering if these externals were meant only for backing up data or
for mobility of large amounts of data rather...

Should I Keep My Partition? by
The Devil's Advocate©
I just bought a Sony Vaio yesterday. It has a 120g drive and it is
divided into 2 partitions 14g and 92g. I wasn't expecting it to be
partitioned out the box and was wondering what would be the rationale
in keeping it this way? Because I'm considering just getting rid of
the second partition. Can...
