DLT7000 block size by
Gabor Melis
This box is a Dell Poweredge 2600 running Debian/Sarge with kernel 2.6.8. The
problem is with the tape:
# tar cf /dev/st0 /lib/modules/2.6.8-1-686-smp/
# tar xfv /dev/st0
produces nothing or "Cannot allocate memory"
After heavy googling I tried passing tar the block size explicitly with -b

question about OnDemand's abilities? by
Mike
A question came up yesterday about the possible abilities
of OnDemand. Currently we have OnDemand in house storing
various documents for legal (I think) reasons. We are talking
about having a HSM for older user documents. The users have
windows workstations with windows file servers. The...

Cannot Get AIT2 LVD To Work by
CHANGE USERNAME TO westes
Our AIT2 HVD drives have been among the most reliable we have used. We
have used them both with differential SCSI controllers as well as HVD fibre
bridges, both with great success. In our test lab, where we have two
permanent test servers that have Adaptec 39160 LVD host adapters, I cannot
get...

Veritas Netbackup - Help Required by
Stephen Reid
Hi
I have a problem with Veritas Netbackup BusinesServer 4.5 (MP6). One of the
guys started a restore from tape using the java client, the problem is that
he actually restored a file to a location that wasn't large enough for it.
The restore obviously failed but in the client still says in...

Tandberg SDLT600 Win2k Adaptec 29160 by
GEvans
Hi,
I have a Tandberg SDLT600 drive and an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card on a
win 2000 platform. I cannot get the SCSI card to recognise the SDLT
drive. The SCSI ID is set correctly on the back of the drive at ID 5
and I am using a self terminating SCSI cable. I can swop the SDLT600
drive for a DAT...

What is a Clariion FC5310 by
Mark Valery
I just purchased a Clariion FC5310 DPE with an additional
10 disk DAE. I have not been able to find any documentation
that describes this thing. The SPs look different than the
ones on the FC5300.
I've done google, google groups, emc.com, and dell.com searches.
Bunch of matches for FC4700, FC5300,...

HP Ultrium460 SCSI-Reference needed by
Rene K?hnen-Wiesemes
Do anyone have access to a HP Ultrium460 SCSI-Reference? I urgent need
information about the Mode Select Command (0x15) and how it's
implemented in
that drive. If you can forward me a copy (pdf) of that Manual or give
me a download link, that would be wonderful.
Thanks in advance,
Rene...

Backup Exec v9.1 for Win2k by
Steve
Can anyone let if you can do a full backup of a windows 2000 server
without the System state and restore just the file and directory data
to another windows 2000 server that has only the Windows 2000 OS,
Backup exec agent and current service pack.
The server is in a windows 2000 AD domain.
Thanks...

File Servers vs NAS? by
Theo
Hi all... another new person to the world of file servers.
Im looking into using an old computer, beefing it up a bit, and using it
for a home office storage unit. Also, Im looking into the 'home media
center' thing where wireless adapters that plug into stereos or tvs stream
data off of...

What's reasonable RAID 5 performance? by
[email protected]
I have a nice new server with 15,000RPM SCSI drives in a hardware RAID 5
configuration. I may be wrong, but I don't think it's performing properly
at all. The question is, what's reasonable?
When using large (500MB) files to swamp out cache effects, I'm getting
roughly 12MB/sec (it varies quite...
