Updated my P5W DH from an E6600 to an E6850 by
~misfit~[_3_]
Somewhere on teh intarweb "William" typed:
It's a fact,
certified faster CUP's run cooler than OC'ed CPU's at the same speed.
I take issue with this "fact" so have crossposted it to
alt.comp.hardware.overclocking. Hopefully someone there will give their
opinion.

Accurate CPU temp monitor? by
~misfit~[_3_]
Hi.
Up until today I've always considered CoreTemp to be the most accurate for
reading my E4500's currently) temperature. It agrees with Intel's
TAT on temps across the range from idle to 100% load, give or take a degree.
However, while working on a mate's Phenom I downloaded CPUID's...

Issues with new build by
Augustus[_3_]
I just upgraded my system to an E8400 running on a Gigabyte EP35-DSR3 board
with 2 x 2Gig sticks of OCZ Platinum PC6400 RAM running in slot 1 and 3 in
dual channel mode and a good CoolerMaster hs/f. It booted up, installed XP
SP3 and all the drivers without issue. 100% stable at default...

RMA-ing Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 by
John Whitworth[_2_]
Had enough...this board is going back. After lots of grief, I've determined
that it's suffering from the 4 sticks of RAM issue. It was an expensive
board, so I expect much better. I don't want to have to do loads of tweaking
just to get it to work on spec!
I made a complete balls-up with my...

Ok, I'm lazy but... by
~misfit~[_3_]
I always get the best info here.
I've got a Phenom 9500 machine here for a couple days. A mate bought it as a
'gaming machine' but with no anti-virus installed it only took a few weeks
to become unusable. I've built and set up all his machine's previously so
he's bought it to me to get me to...

Overclocking E6600. by
John Whitworth[_2_]
I've recently bought a new mobo (Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6), along with 4GB of new
RAM (Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500). I've also replaced my PSU, with a
Coolermaster RealPower M700, as that was potentially causing me issues, as
discussed in an older post.
I'm waiting for the new Q9450 to be available...

Overclocking Asus P5B Deluxe versus abit IP35 Pro by

I would appreciate a little help on understanding the difference between
these two boards. I have the abit IP35 Pro/E6750 system slightly over

had even a hint of a problem and the temps seem pretty low with the...
