Essential security/utility software by Steve
Hi, My new system will be arriving shortly and although this question is a little on the generic side I'm sure some will have suggestions that I hadn't thought of. Basically, I'm polling to see which softwares people use to secure the ship and keep it running smoothly. So far, it seems that the...

In search of an excellent keyboard? by me,myself and moe

In search of an excellent keyboard? by Ben Myers
Let me recommend the original 101-key IBM keyboard, last manufactured by Lexmark (IBM spinoff) in maybe 1994 or 1995. Elegant? Absolutely not. Sturdy? YES!!!! Built like a rock. Absolutely wonderful positive touch, like the old IBM Selectrics, but each key press makes a noisy click. No...

XP on GW computer reboots rather than turn off by Uzi Barzilai
I installed XP on a used Gateway computer. Model: GP6-450 (P2 450Mhz). XP does not turn the computer off it re-boot, instead. I received, already, some much appreciated advise, and checked: No 'Wake up' in the BIOS. No CD/DVD in drives. If I eliminate the 'automatically restart' - I get a blue...

Do you like Norton SystemWorks Pro? by Steve
Hi, I've seen the full retail 2003 version for sale for as low as $15 including one year of updates (but without printed manuals, they're in electronic form on CD) and as much as I realize the average mass consumer software packages can be clumsy if not ineffectual this seems like a decent price...

DVD Player quits about half way through by Anthony Giorgianni
I occasionally have the same problem with my 9300 (happened twice, I think)and will be interested in whether any has an answer. But it seems to me - at least in my case - that it may depend on the DVD. There was one in particular - every time it got to a certain point in the movie, it quit. I...

Deleting a restore point with Windows ME by Jeff S.
Sure, files could be recovered, but that is not something that most people are going to be capable of doing. So, unless it is very critical and confidential info, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you are worried about it, formatting the entire drive would be a better option. Good luck. JS
