DS4300 installation acceptance by
[email protected]
Hello there,
I was wondering if somebody could provide me with some guidance in
preparing an acceptance document for the installation of a Fiber
Channel SAN storage based on an IBM DS4300.
This will help me ensure that the installation is fully implemented
and all the features are enables or...

Cheapest RAID system? by
Al
Hi,
I have a Shuttle system. I'm looking for an external Raid 1 system
using a Firewire connection preferrably. Something simple i.e. two
hard drives and the cheaper the better (around £400)! Is there such a
thing?
I recently started reading about NAS. Although they seem to connect
via a Rj45...

How Do You Back Up A Terrabyte Of Data ? by
Al Dykes
Other than second-site replication how do people with multi-TB of data
do disaster planning these days ? Do poeple just buy pairs of SAN/NAS
boxes ? I'd want three, actually. Sh*t happens.
I managed datacenters when disks went from 25MB to maybe 800MB and
9 track tapes were good enough for...

Standards for backup saveset formats ? by
Al Dykes
ISTR that there was an effort to standardize backup saveset formats so
that the major backup products could interoperate to some degree.
Did anything come of this?

What disk manufacturers still have essentially end-to-end fabrication

Are there any companies we never hear the names of that

DLT tape drive from as AS/400 on Windows and Linux ? by
Al Dykes
I have a crack at a canabalized AS/400 and there are two IBM-badged
DLT drives on it. Is there any reasony why these shouldn't work on a
windows or linux system as long as I have a SCSI card with the
matching cable interfaces on it ?

ghost on a Dell Server with hardware raid ?? by

I have a new Dell server with hardware raid and w2k. When it boots it
goes thru the bios to see the two 80G disks as one mirror set.
I want to put a cheap IDE disk in this machine and use Ghost to do
quick image backups prior to risky acts, like installing service

Is there any reason why...

Does anyone have experience with enduser managed storage?
