B_UDC DSP Error Message on ADIC SNC 5100 by
Will
Has anyone ever seen an error message B_UDC DSP error on the serial login to
an ADIC SNC 5100 fibre bridge?
We tried to connect this bridge to another vendor's tape library, with one
SCSI port on the library, one SCSI for LTO3 drive #1 and a third SCSI on the
fibre bridge to LTO3 drive #2. ...

RAIDing LUNs in a SAN by
Mick
Hi,
I'm trying to get a basic heads-up on the best approach to distributing
the disks in a SAN to various servers. Hopefully you'll excuse the
newbie-ish nature of all this :-)
To demonstrate with a theoretical example:
If I was trying to divide a 10 disk SAN between 3 servers...2 of which
need...

Mixing SAN vendors by
mrs
Hi,
we want to connect different servers (HP, AIX, Windows, Solaris) with
different (!) HBA Ports to different (!) SANs - one port goes to a
CISCO SAN another port goes to a Brocade SAN.
(so we are not talking about mixing switches from different vendor in
the same fabric which of course would be...

Website to show WWN vendor by
Cooler
Hello all,
I used to know of a good website where you could plug in the WWNN and
it would come back and tell you the vendor information.
I can't find it anymore. Does anyone know of this site or a similar
site?
Thanks.

Changing FA to host assignments on Symmetrix. by
Erik Hendrix
Hi,
We might want to change the FA's assigned to certain hosts to more
distribute the load. We would like to do this without loosing any data.
However, we know that sometimes we might not be able to keep the SCSI ID
that was assigned to those disks before.
We are using Veritas Volume Managar and...

Move File Shares by
[email protected]
I have a number of servers I'm migrating to a SAN, including a large
number of file shares (hundreds total). I'm looking for a tool that can
do a move from one file system to another, both maintaining the data
and the file share information. What should I use, and how should I go
about this?

SAN and directly attached tape backup (veritas) by
KM
Beginner to SAN here, apologies.
I'm looking into buying the new Dell entry level AX100 with 1.1TB of
storage space. It will be attached by fibre to a Dell PowerEdge
server.
What is the best backup solution for me out there? tape? dlt?
I'm on a tight budget and will be using Veritas.

Let me preface this with I'm an undergraduate at the University of

check of the board's DDR SDRAM by writing and reading from the
device's entire address space...

Hi,
I have a HP FibreChannel adapter that runs with an adaptec driver
(downloaded at HP, but it is an adaptec, don't ask me why). It is
connected to a Compaq StorageWorks Modular Data Router. But I can't see

Dual drive failure and MD driver by

We have a RAID-5 using the md driver in FC3 with two drives marked

problems were intermittent only. We'd like to recover yesterday's
updates from the array. Is there a way to force the array to mount?
I note that there is a "--force"...

tracking binaries in user home dirs by

Does anyone know of a way to track binary usage from a users NFS

We're running into a problem where a user is running binaries out of
their home dir that are already installed in AFS causing the NFS
server to get hammered. I'd like to be able to trace who that user
is.
