Overclocking Barton 1833 (2500+) by
SysCold
So far I've managed to get it to 2.26 GHz with 205 FSB. No voltage
change. I have Zalman CNPS700A-AlCu and it keeps it at 38C/42C Idle/CPU
Max. Motherboard is Asus A7N8X-X (2x200MHz FSB). How far can I push it
more, anyone OC'd it higher? What temperature is still OK, 60C, 70C?
BTW, just to make...

Differences between Athlon XP 2600+ and Athlon XP 2800+ by
no spam
Hello,
I have an Athlon XP2600+ CPU in a NForce2 motherboard machine. I am a bit
confused as to what type of CPU it is i.e."Barton" etc. The CPU is green in
colour and has a 333MHZ fsb. The small print on the packaging says that it
is also rated to run at 2083MHZ. I was thinking of upgrading...

Athlon 64 questions by
Mike B
My new athlon XP system just got fried..
I have some questions. I've heard the Athlon64 3200+ can beat a P4 3.2 EE in
most tests. Is this true, and is there any reason why one would buy the P4
over the A64 other than bias?
Also, i'm a bit confused now.. I see A64 3200+ listed at pricewatch.....

Overheating AMD XP 2100+ NO OVERCLOCKING by
Flow
Have you fitted the heatsink the other way around?
Did you use the thermal paste?
You can try touching the heatsink with your finger and feel if it's hot.
When not then it does not make proper contact with the cpu.
I had a alluminium heatsink suited for xp2000 on my xp2400
and only with 30C ambient...

Cool down a dying Athlon 700 by
Carl Olsson
My Athlon 700MHz hangs when it hits 35C. I have not even overclocked
it. Yet... MB is a MSI K7PRO (MS-6195). CPU cooler is a Golden Orb and
I've got an extra 80mm fan blowing directly at the CPU. Room
temperature is about 22C.
I've thought about ripping off the plastic cover from the CPU but...

Asus & AMD by
Eli
Hi,
Can anybody please help me to configure A7V266-C motherboard to work
properly with AMD Athlon XP 1700+?
Since a recent power loss all the BIOS configurations were reset, so
now it works only at 1100MZ, when CPU System Frequency Multiple is
x11.0 and System/PCI Frequency is 100/33 MHz. Before...

Athlon 64 2.8 vs. Athlon XP 3.2 by
ENJ483
I am upgrading.
For a difference of about $125, I can purchase a Athlon64 2.8 instead of the
AthlonXP 2.4 mobile (overclocked to XP 3.2 speeds - 11x200.)
If I go Athlon64 - I'd do it with the MSI NEO platnum(Nforce3-250). If I go
XP2.4, I'll go Abit NF7-S.
I would not overclock the Athlon64.

Socket A & 754 Sempron caution. by
Wes Newell
I don't know if this is well known or not but AMD has used different
criteria in giving the Sempron line of cpu's its PR numbers. So don't
buy a Sempron 3100+ expecting it to be faster than an Athlon 64 3000+.
Because it's nowhere close to as fast. AMD ommitted a bunch of the
benchmarks used for...

PATA -> Serial ATA convertors - do they always work ? by
ZigZag Master
I have some regular IDE to Serial ATA adapters that came with an Abit NF7-S
motherboard.
I tried using one on an Asus K8V SE Deluxe with a Western Digital 250 GB
(WD2500BB) hard drive. I could not get the drive recognized by the BIOS.
Are these convertors sometimes known to be flaky, or is it...

Newegg doubles price! by
Wes Newell
I'm a little ****ed about this. Newegg has raiseed the price of the
TR2-M1 cooler from $8.99 to $15.99. The only reason I can see for this is
the popularity and the five star ratings in 40 reviews. This cooler can
still be bought for $8-$12 elsewhere. The TR2-M2 is now $3 cheaper than
the M1, but...
