PATA HDD and only 2 IDE connectors by
Grumble
Hello everyone,
I've recently purchased an ASUS A8N-E MB (nForce4 Ultra).
It has 2 IDE connectors and 4 SATA connectors.
I have a spare 120GB PATA HDD that I planned to use. However, I did not
expect to have only 2 IDE connectors: I also wanted a DVD-ROM drive and
a DVD burner. But I can't fit 3...

AMD vs Intel for video format conversions and editing by
YKhan
Video editing seems to be the Pentium 4's last remaining advantage over
Athlon 64; everything else is faster on the Athlon. I don't really
think Pentium's advantage is on all video encoders, just a few select
ones like Divx, but I think Xvid is faster on Athlon.
Part of the reason might even be as...

Single Ch. 768 vs. Dual Ch. 512 ? by
QZ
I bought parts for a budget second PC, and I went with a Intel 848 chipset
board with Single Channel capability, and I got one 512mb memory module.
The next board up, with Intel 865 and Dual Channel was $30 more. So, I could
have had 512mb Dual Ch.
(Like all the parts, I could have gotten more,...

How to Remove Corsair VS from Plastic?? by
QZ
I am an experienced PC builder, but this one baffles me. The Corsair Value
Select plastic container has more room on the contact side, so it appears
that they want you to remove it from there. I thought it was a no-no, that
it should be handled for the top and sides.
I guess the bottom edge is ok,...

What is a Pentium 4 "516"? by

This system:

uses the 516 processor. I can't find that on Intel's site, which I
assume means it's no longer made. Could someone tell me where the 516
fits in the Intel line? Socket? Hyperthreading?...

Aopen mz855-II by
Paul Missman
Anyone have any idea when there will be an AMD 64-bit version of this
system?
It is basically the size of a Mac Mini, and made for the 32-bit Pentium M.
It would be great to get a 64-bit system down to this form factor.

Modern CPU's: Enhancement-type MOSFETS? by

I remember reading that enhancement-type MOSFET's had faster switching
capabilities that DE MOSFET's. Are these the equivalent type of MOSFET's
