One Laptop Per Child: seriously cute by
bbbl67
Extremely bright colors, and antennaes that fold out into rabbit ears!
What's not to like, the kids are going to seriously eat this up. Weighs
only 2 lbs too!

Memory manufacturers overclocks DDR2 to over 1.2Ghz by
Yousuf Khan
Looks like memory makers in Computex are trying to one-up each other by
coming out with the fastest DDR2 module. The current standard stuff is
running at 667Mhz. These guys are going upto 1.20Ghz/CAS4 or 1.25Ghz/CAS5.

Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 Preview from Taiwan by
Yousuf Khan
Sure looks like Intel has leapfrogged AMD as badly as AMD had previously
leapfrogged Intel. The only problem I see though is that Intel isn't
expecting to have a lot of Core 2 Duos available for a while. Only 25%
of its production is going to be of this generation, the remaining 75%
will still be...

Weird HD problem. by
George Macdonald
Again, I'd rather avoid .storage aggro:-) but this one has me baffled: I
have a K8 system (Athlon64 3500+ on a MSI K8N Neo4-F) which is used as a
File/Print/DNS server with a Promise Fasttrak100 TX2 PCI card swappable
RAID-1 set up. This was a hot-swappable RAID kit sold by Promise called...

"Green" Web hosting by
George Macdonald
Interesting story he
http://www.networkworld.com/news/2006/060506-web-hosts-green.html
Seems like the desert is the "place" to start a "provider" service - all
that sun and a few solar panels. Seems too simple - no? Then again,
apparently there are "green" clients.

Video card by
GeoCal
I was installing a new 2.0 USB card and accidently took out the AGP
card. I put it back in and then rebooted and got the dreaded one long
and 3 short beeps. I tried everything, cleaning, moving the card,
giggling it, etc, I did get it to work once but not again.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Why AMD for gaming? by
Eddie G
Why is AMD preferred for gaming? Intel has dual-core CPU's at 3.4 ghz
(and 3.6 iirc) and the fastest AMD x2 is what...2.6 ghz? I'd rather
get the faster Intel.
Please explain if you can...

conroe and broadwater by
Eddie G
Conroe (or Core Duo) is the new CPU coming out next month. Broadwater is a
chipset. Is Broadwater a chip on the Core Duo CPU? Or does it have to do
with a chip on the mobo?
Thanks!!

Non-intel benchmarks on Conroe vs AMD's AM2 FX62 by
The little lost angel
http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=5692&page=3
Well, it doesn't look like smoke and mirrors anymore does it? :P
The bit I'm curious about is, is there any mistake in the Sciencemark
2.0 latency results? Without an onboard memory controller, the Conroe
E6600 is faster than the FX-62....

Asia-Pacific still hasn't heard of AMD yet by
bbbl67
Well, I'm starting to see Lost Angel's perspective about AMD. Looks
like AMD has not penetrated Asia-Pacific to any great degree yet.
Whereas those of us in North America are seeing very visible signs of
AMD's success everytime we go to a store, A-P remains largely loyal to
Intel still. In servers,...
