Intel CPU prices going up? by
Yousuf Khan[_2_]
Intel's processor prices have been going up recently, rather than down.
They're blaming it on production problems. Intel has been well known to
be stuck on the 14nm node for a while now. Instead of going towards 10nm
they just keep incrementing their 14nm with plus signs, what are they up
to...

The great leveling by

IBM has created a graphic showing the various Itanium sales forecasts over
the years, where every subsequent sales forecast shrinks lower and lower,
which can be called the "Great Leveling".

Intel's 90nm shrink BETTER than their 130nm shrink? by
Tony Hill
Hi all
I was over at the Ace's Hardware message board, and I saw someone
complaining (again) about how the Prescott P4 chips were using more
power than the Northwood and how they felt that Intel's 90nm shrink
wasn't improving anything.
This got me thinking, just how much did the process actually...

Upgrade path: which socket/CPU? by
Paulo Jan
Hi all:
I'm thinking about upgrading my computer (a Duron 800), and
I've been looking at various choices. The common problem that I'm
seeing, though, is that none of them (Athlon XP, Athlon 64, Pentium 4)
offer a good upgrade path for the... say, the next 2 years. From what
I understand:
-Socket...

Dell Optiplex GX1 RAM by
Tom Del Rosso
The system has 3 slots, and 1 is occupied by a 128MB 9-chip single sided
DIMM, so it has ECC but is apparently unbuffered.
I want to bring it up to 512MB, or 640MB if possible.
The Dell website has 2 RAM options listed for the GX1 -- 1 ECC registered
and 1 non-ECC unbuffered.
This seems strange...
