I have a new Samsung PATA 160G drive that I'd like to use as a USB storage/backup drive. I thought I might be able to just plug it into a USB and away we go, but no dice. It seems that it must be partitioned and formatted before I can use it as a USB drive. Can someone please give me some tips...

OS drives on own controller vs being on same controller with data raid5 array (performance?) by markm75
Can anyone comment on whether there would be any real advantage of having the OS drives (mirror) attached to say the motherboard controller (SataII), vs being on the same card as say a 3ware 8 port PCI-x or pcie controller card (along with the raid 5 data array). IE: when i send backup data to...

Slow SCSI RAID5 Array... by NewMan
Hi, I have a Dell 1600SC running Win2000 Server. This box has a PERC4/SC RAID Card, and 3 x 73 GB SCSI 10,000 RPM drives configured for Hardware RAID5. When this server was originally deployed some 3 years ago, it was a screamer. No complaints about disk access at all. A few months ago,...

Hi, I've got a USB pen drive that has decided to stop working - it's not being recognised by the computer and apparently has stopped drawing power (light doesn't go on). It's got a lot of important stuff on it - does anyone know of a way I can extract these documents or does it sound like the drive...
