A buyers market for text links by Rick1
It seems like as more and more webmasters resort to text link advertising the price of this advertising has been going down relative to where it was just 6 months. Also, it seems like run-of-site ads are still extremely popular in the major auction and brokerage sites. Personally, I won't touch...

A few more Sempron details emerge by Yousuf Khan
Looks like the Sempron will initially be just renamed Athlon XP Socket A processors. But since it will be AMD's low-range lineup, it may eventually move to Socket 754 and then Socket 939. But it will remain 32-bit initially, and then it may reacquire 64-bit capabilities very...

I am about to build a new box for myself. I am not looking for a comparison, which one is better - xenon or amd64, because the answer is, I think, pretty obvious. What I really need a help with is to choose the right MB. Right now I use Gigabyte 7N400 Pro, with nForce2 chipset, raid0 and nVidia...

A limit on number of USB hubs in Windows 7? by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
I've got three 4-port hubs on my system. From time to time after a reboot, some of them don't enumerate properly, and you have to unplug and replug them. Is there some way in software to get Windows to rescan them? Of course that won't do any good if the USB hub that your mouse and keyboard are...

A little more detail about Prescott performance by Yousuf Khan
Ace's Hardware has come up with a bit more detail about what's going to happen in the Prescott. The L1 D-cache has been doubled to 16K. L2 doubled to 1MB. Now there's a dedicated integer multiplier for IMUL latency improvements. SSE3, of course. Larger WC buffers for bursting data to an AGP video...

A message from Crucial by da_test
I sent Crucial an email, outlining the fact that I'd purchased a 256MB stick of CL2 pc133 SDRAM (CT32M64S8D7E) and I was asking their advice about the DIMM memory speed setting in the bios. For example, you can set 6-3-3 (normal) 6-3-2 (enhanced) 6-2-3 (fast) etc, etc. This is their...

A thin-client theory I don't believe by [email protected]
But I'm posting it, anyway, because throwing Citrix in there makes it just marginally credible. The thin-client future--the one that *is* coming--will benefit (drum roll...) *Microsoft*, and Apple is moving to Intel to prepare for this brave new...
