IBM Upgrade by underdrive
Hello, I was wanting to upgrade my IBM computer. Since overclocking is out of the question, I was wondering if I could just replace the willamette CPU with a Northwood P4A or P4B that is supported by Socket 478? Please see my specs below for further info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Athlon XP Mobile and VIA KT-133 by [email protected]
Did anyone have any luck with AXP-M (Barton) in older KT-133 (not A) boards? Particularly I am looking for a way to speed up an old MSI K7T Pro2 that currently has Duron 750 installed. I figured out that even though the FSB is limited to 100, the fact that mobile Barton is not multiplier-locked...

What's Transmeta like? by Peter Mount
Hi I'm showing my ignorance here but I wouldn't know what a Transmeta cpu is like if I fell over one. Are they any good? Would I be better off just looking at AMD or Intel? Have fun Peter Mount

First bunch of Nocona benchs have come out, this one from GamePC: http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=noconaopteron&page=1&cookie%5Ftest=1 Looks like the Nocona isn't a bad performer, seems to be better at workstation-style applications than at server-style applications. Yousuf...

Pentium M desktop picture by G
I know this would interest me if it's actually available, and not just a prototype: http://desktops.engadget.com/entry/7548889455600756/ The price seems a little high ($1650 for the 1.7GHz Pentium M model), and it doesn't comment on whether you can put a real graphics card in it or not. On the...

Any new Celeron Benchmarks? by Libras Renholder
I want to upgrade my Celeron 1.7Ghz to possibly Celeron D 335 or P4 2.8B-GHz (my mobo supports 533 FSB). The P4 is more expensive but I wonder how much faster it is then the new celerons. But I guess its too early for benchmarks?

VIA USB 2.0 chips: VT6202, VT6212 -- differences? by larrymoencurly
How do the VIA VT6202 and VT6212 USB 2.0 chips differ to the user, other than the latter being faster (www.xbitlabs.com) and apparently more compatible with my old FIC VA-503+ mobo (Socket 7, VIA MVP3-based)? Where can I find detailed information about these chips? VIA won't disclose anything...
