I can't find this part anywhere, I called HP, searched their parts

It is shown in several pages, the best illustration is on page 8. I
want to add 2 extra disks in the empty...

Conflict I/O Ports: 378 3F8 by
00ignacio00
I have read the FAQ but it did not help me. I only boot this computer
up when I need to print something. I have three computers networked
(Mac OS9, NT4 and Windows 98) and this is the one with the actual
drivers. One day it would not boot past an error "Conflict I/O Ports:
378 3F8" when it had...

Sound Card Problems with Jetway 993AN by
00steve
Hi,
I have crackly sound when running a soundblaster 16 ISA, so I decided to
replace it with a Yamaha 724 sound card, which I found lying about.
The card is a PCI sound card. I unplugged the old sound blaster, and put the
yamaha in the PCI slot next to the slot where the old ISA card used to...

Optical mouse causes screen freeze? by
111
Hi all:
Is it possible for a USB optical mouse to cause the screen to freeze for
a sec or two, like you move the mouse when playing games but the image
isn't moving?
The pointer of my mouse seems to be not willing to go and stay where I
point sometimes. Example: I move the pointer to an icon and...

Lenovo amaze me by
[email protected]
A friend gave me a Lenovo 3000 desktop PC to troubleshoot.
I opened the case and found the mainboard is
GA-G31M-S2L
Eh?
Companies like HP used bespoke mainboards from Foxconn, MSI, ECS or whoever.
One HP I had the mainboard was chip-for-chip the same as a retail MSI
board, just different BIOS. ...

an old-timer mutters about DDR* speeds by
[email protected]
DDR went up to 400 (500 for the top shelf overclock specials)
DDR2 went up to 1066 (1200 for the top shelf overclock specials)
DDR3 is tipped to reach 3000 by the time DDR4 retail desktop boards arrive
So it has been stretched out quite a long way

continuous BIOS beep by
[email protected]
I got a PC that emitted one continuous beep - until you switched if off.
This is not listed in the BIOS beep codes. Could have been 1 dud transistor
that switched on the beep oscillator, but then maybe the PC would still boot.
Nothing else happened: no lights lit up on keyboard or CD drive.
I...

PCs that do not power up by
[email protected]
Since the late 90s, I have come across quite a few PCs that do not power on.
I have checked out the power supply, the power switch, removed everything
except one stick of RAM, and they still lie dead.
I would expect there was a simple on-off connection to fire up the ATX power
supply, but there...

DDR2 1066 dies young leaves a pretty corpse by
[email protected]
A few hours a week, I have been testing old PCs donated to charity for re-use.
Recently, started seeing stuff that would have been high-end in its day.
Now every system I looked at with 1066 MHz DDR2 had at least one dead DIMM
in it. Would this suggest that the people who fit this overclocked the...

Is this decent? by
1411
This is used by 1 person at home for Web surfing and game, not FPS
games. I know it's not cutting edge, in fact its about 3-5 years
old. But will it do me for awhile or do you see something that I
can 'tweek' to get more MPG?
Thanks for looking. Bob

Help/Recommendations needed for my pc by
2007
Hi,
I have an issue with my PC.
About 3-4 yrs old, custom built, P4 & ECS mobo - PC3200 memory.
Worked fine for about 3 yrs then the ATI AIW 9000pro died - I put a
new Video card and it was back to normal. Then the Network card that
was built-in on the mobo failed but otherwise worked. Then...
