What's a good bargain in 3D gaming graphics card? by
Doc
what's a good "bang for
the buck" gaming video card for PC? I don't have to have the latest
greatest, it can be an older card, just something that supports 3D
graphics and that I'm likely to find for a bargain on eBay. Under $100
ideally, under $50 would be even better.
The
particular games I'm...

Recommendation for best card for both 3D and 2D? by
enigma
I'm looking for a card that can handle 3D decently (flight sims and
most recent kids games like Harry Potter are the most intensive it
will be used for), but also would like to do video editing. Is there
one that can do both well? If not, is an alternative to put one in the
AGP slot and another in...

Better than a G550 by
Doug Ramage
I am looking to improve video playback quality.
Currently I am using an FX5200, but I have a G550 and Radeon 9800 Pro not
being used (long story).
Is the G550 likely to be better than the FX5200?
Would the 9800 Pro be better than the G550?
Would a P650 be better than the above?

Matrox Parhelia by
HMSDOC
I am currently building a new system with a Gigabyte 8KNXP motherboard and was
considering a Matrox Parhelia 128 graphics card. My main use is for Photoshop,
and I work on large 500-600MB files, though I would like to do some occasional
gaming, though not 'hard core' gaming. I would like dual...

Recommendation - mostly 2D by

Building a new system around an Asus P4C800E. It will mostly be used for 2D
work, ranging from text to Photoshop, to the occasional (??) game. On most
of the systems I've built to date I've used Matrox boards, largely for the
high-quality 2D performance and general stability. However, on...

Other Cards Matching Matrox 2D Quality? by
nubis
I was going to buy an ATI 9800Pro for its excellent 3D capabilities,
but am having second thoughts given a number of people have reported
its 2D quality is less than my Matrox G400Max. Any suggestions? I'm
considering the Parhelia but it's a little out of my price range,
although I'm checking on...

Matrox Parhelia LX P650 vs Mainstream ATI or NVidia by
Frederic W. Erk
I am interested with Matrox hardware, especially the Parhelia LX series. I
am looking for multi-display, crisp quality, colour calibration and good
platform for multimedia creation. I have experience with ATI AIW, which are
disappointing and not worth purchasing. ATI and NVidia mainstream...

G550 or P650 in a new PC ? please help me decide by
[email protected]
Hi,
I'm about to order a new PC, and where I live
I have the choice of either a G550 or a P650 card.
There's no 450 or 400 models, and anything above
the P650 is out of the question budget-wise.
I've seen comparisson charts which show different numbers
but I'm worried of either spending too much...

Parhelia Display Quality vs. G550, or Radeon 8500. by
Frederic W. Erk
I read with interest that, according to tecchannel.de, the display quality
of the G550 is distinctively superior to the Parhelia. This is quite
contradictory with reviews stating that the G550 display quality is now
roughly similar to the one reached by high-end ATI and NVidia solutions -
albeit...

Matrox & Asus Being Jerks! P4C800-E Dlx + P650/P750 Fails During Boot! by

Normally BIOS code by definition IS in host CPU code. Such code is NOT
CPU
independent and therefore most PCI or ISA bus PC cards are NOT CPU
independent! They are x86 CPU dependent.
Ron, the cards are connected to the motherboard using a bus such as ISA,
EIDE, VESA, PCI, PCI-X, AGP.. the...
