Performance improvement using X5355 over 5080 by
Qu0ll
Can anyone give me a rough guide to the relative performance gains I would
expect to get by swapping 2 x Xeon 5080 3.73GHz Dual-Core CPUs with 2 x Xeon
X5355 2.66GHz Quad-Core CPUs? I would like to know if it is worth the
upgrade.

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to get information on the different types of
transactions that go on the Core 2 Duo processor FSB (Front Side Bus).
This, I came to know is Intel proprietary information and is not
available in the public domain. In which case let me know the

Eric Smith
Does anyone happen to know whether the Core 2 Duo T7100/T7300/T7500/T7700
in the Toshiba Tecra M9 is socketed (Socket P) or soldered in place?
Is the service manual available for purchase somewhere? Toshiba indicated
unwillingness to sell one to me, but I see that there are lots of sites

E6750 on P5WDG2 WS Professional? by
Andrew Morton
Seeing as the E6750 is selling for less than the E6600 at the moment, would
it be sensible to install an E6750 on an Asus P5WDG2 WS Professional
motherboard (max FSB 1066MHz)?

A good reason not to choose AMD? by
Peter B. P.[_2_]

Old CPU's, granted, but it appears that Intel CPU's simply handle
critical overheating much better than AMDs.
Your thoughts?

Intel BOXDG965WHMKR and RAM Compatibility? by
iunknown
I am waiting for this Intel mb to come in the mail. I want to buy 2GB
of RAM to start off with.
I am looking at either (2) 1GB Kingston 6400 modules for $120 or (2)
1GB Corsair 6400 modules for $80.
Price seems like a "no-brainer" but I'm more familiar with Kingston
than Corsair. This is also...

Diifference b/w Intel MBs BLKD975XBX2KR and D975XBX2KR. by
Core2Duo
What is the difference between the Intel motherboards BLKD975XBX2KR and
D975XBX2KR?.
AFAIK the 1st refers to a 'BuLK' 10 pack of "D975XBX2KR"s.
The BLKD975XBX2KR is cheaper (per unit) & has "On Board Firewire", whereas
the D975XBX2KR does *not* but costs more?. This does not make...

upgrading a SOLO CORE Toshiba to DUAL CORE? by

Hi everyone!
I've been reading in Wikipedia SOLO CORES are DUAL CORE processors with
one core severed but actually the same FSB, L2 Cache and so they even
have the same socket, the socket M. So is it possible to upgrade a
toshiba l100 (with solo core) to dual core?
I know that previous pentium...

Hi Everyone
I am facing a problem where the Intel 8255xER chip is not binding to
IPv6
protocol. On installing IPv6 from 'netsh' link-local addresses do not
appear
on these adapters.
I have tried the same test with several other Intel adapters like

SATA hot swap w/ DP696LT board? by
Russell
I'm trying to determine what's needed to safely hot-swap SATA drives that I use
for file back-ups. But it's unclear if my DP965LT motherboard supports SATA
hot-swapping.
Intel's website cautions that one needs to install AHCI or RAID drivers during
the OS install (XP-Pro) as AHCI (which supports...

Intel "dual core" vs. "Core 2 Duo" by

What are the differences between an Intel "dual core" (such as the

GHz)?
The E4300 has a 2 mb cache compared to a the 1 mb cache...

available RAM in 4GB chipsets by
Eric Gisin
The Pentium architecture supports 4GB of memory space. Chipsets limit physical RAM.
Intel supports 4GB in the 450 server chipsets, and starting with the 865 desktop chipset.
If you have 4GB RAM, a portion has to be disabled for PCI and system purposes.
If you are interested in how this is done,...

E6750 & Bad Axe Board by
KlausK
Does anyone know if the original Bad Axe supports the E6750? The product
support page of the bad axe doesn't include the 6750 as a supported CPU, but
it does include the E6700 as a supported CPU. If a board supports, the 6700,
shouldn't it support the 6750?
