Ebuyer have told me that the package was dispatched with the items in (based
on weight, which I presume they kept a record of the original parcel
weight). When the box was received it had obviously been open
and taped up again.
B*****d thieving couriers who didn't even steal the most...

Site Help by
Simon
A year or so ago, I found a site that allowed you to enter computer products
you were interested in and then that 'wish list' was sent to a number of
suppliers who would come back with prices.
Try as I might, I can't find it now. Does anyone know if it still exists,
and if so, the...

Looking for a non-OEM version of Windows XP by
Mike
Hi,
Does anyone know where to get hold of a retail version of Windows XP Home?
I read that OEM versions will only let you perform a clean install - I
want to upgrade from Win98.
I tried the usual suspects including redstore but haven't had much luck.
Anyone have any pointers?
Thanks!

Clueless! by
Snowdon Computers
Went to an IT auction today in Manchester with loads of good P3 kit and
servers there, the PCs selling for very very good prices. When it started we
were told 'no PCs can be removed until Tuesday as the drives are not
formatted'.
I spoke to one of the goons about this formatting of the drives and...

PC World by
Spinal
Just saw an ad in the paper for PC World, advertising antivirus software
with big warnings about the MSBlaster worm.
Then a box saying
Already Infected! Bring your PC to us and we will remove it for only £19.99.
So they charge £19.99 to install the MS patch and run a downloaded copy of

I'm looking to buy 3 TFT monitors but I'm wary about the dead-pixel issue.
Which online shops have the best returns policy when it comes to faulty
TFTs?

Cheap Laptop - suggestions? by
Paul Hutchings
I've been sort of asked to suggest a cheap (relatively speaking) laptop for
someones kid, apparently his school is quite heavily promoting them, but
the one they offer is about £750 and apparently pretty apalling for the
money.
Taking a quick look I saw this at...

PC Supplier recommendation? by
David Gill
Hello,
My current computer is now five years old and despite several upgrades it's
now showing its age.
I'm therefore looking to buy a brand new system (less the monitor). This
will represent a substantial investment for me and obviously I want to use a
decent supplier with a good reputation who...

Ebuyer and false advertising - advice? by
Peter
Hi,
About 5 weeks ago I bought a Samtron 76E monitor from Ebuyer, which
has just died. Now, Ebuyer say in big bold letters that the monitor is
supplied with a 3 year **onsite*** warranty. Guess what? It isn't -
it's RTB only, so I will have to spend £20 to ship a £70 monitor back
to it's...
