XPS Studio 9000/435T motherboard by
Thomas Lake
I'm getting three beeps from my 9000. It looks like the motherboard is dead. Dell doesn't have a replacement for that any more. Will a standard motherboard fit in the 9000's case?

Media Direct Autoboot (Vostro 1500) by
Ron Hardin
An old Vostro 1500 boots up Media Direct whenever
power is applied, after being off for a few
months.
It can't be persuaded to boot XP with any
combination of fn keys, power buttons, or
anything.
Taking out the HD to get to fn key options, the
BIOS seems okay. Even date and time are correct.

Upgrade Dell XPS Laptop Motherboard? by
Dan Schumacher[_2_]
I have a 6 year old Dell XPS 17" laptop with a fantastic 1920 x
1280 display. Because it doesn't support newer standards (SATA,
USB 3.0 or 3.1, 802.11 AC, etc.), I would like to upgrade it.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a new laptop on the Dell site that
had all the new capabilities in a 17"...

Replacement hard drive for Dell Inspiron 1420? by
Alan[_3_]
I have a 2007 Dell Inspiron laptop 1420 which still has its uses. I
have been looking for a new HD, but it has an odd connector. Rather
than the usual flat connector with horizontal contacts, these are
vertical contacts that drop down in the laptop connector, rather than
sliding in sideways. I...

Dell laptops - memory in pairs ? by
ps56k[_3_]
Have a couple of older Dell laptops -
- Dell E6400
- Dell M1210
I've usually added memory to both slots,
with the same amount... do I have to ?
Does the Dual Channel DDR2 enabled feature
access all memory regardless of the
slot symmetry ?

Larry[_12_]
A question about dual booting on a Dell inspiron.
I am looking at this system:
New Inspiron 15 5000 Series
$399.00 installed with Windows 7 pro
I want to install Linux with the Windows 7 pro in a dual boot environment.
Will that work on this system?

copper shim vs. thermal pad by
Timothy Daniels[_4_]
I'm putting a different motherboard in my XPS M1330 -
the motherboard without the discrete nVidia graphics
chip. I find that there is about a 1.6mm gap between
the Intel system chip and the heat sink that is attached
to the copper heat pipe. I don't want to tighten the gap
down because that would...

I have a shiny new XPS-18, the one with the Intel i7 processor in it.

Windows 8.1 upgrade. Bluetooth stopped working.
Specifically: I have several bluetooth headphones, stereo. I can pair
them with my XPS-18, but immediately after the...
