We've just installed a new FC SAN and I've just got a couple of questions
about some issues we're seeing.
Basically we've got single ported dual controller's connected to 2 switches.

Solution for offsite backup by
Dirk Taggesell
Hello folks,
our company needs some kind of an offsite backup.
Servers to backup are an Exchange2000 server and a W2000 file server.
The replication doesn't have to be performed immediately. If data is been
synchronized on an (two)hourly basis this would be ok. The solution also
has to be...

fake SATA drives? by
- CT -
I was talking to a storage vendor today, and he mentioned that most SATA
drives on the market are really IDE drives with a SATA bridge, only 1 or 2
are true SATAs...
This seems to mean the "fake" SATA drives will not have the SATA features,
such as native cmd queueing. Which ones are the real SATA...

Hard Drive Installation Problem--Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop by
Michael
Hi everyone,
I am not normally a laptop user, so please bear with me. I am trying to
replace a friend's ailing hard drive on , which is an IBM Cascade/Hitachi
Travelstar 40 GN. The Travelstar 40 GN is an ATA-5 with what looks like a
24-pin straight connector. (I don't know the exact terminology...

Second **internal hard drive in Dell Inspiron . Possible? by
Michael
Hi,
I am not a laptop user so please bear with me when I ask this question: Is
it possible to install two hard drives internally into a Dell Inspiron 8200
laptop? It seems like there would not be room for two hard drives that are
internal.

lost capacity to RAID 0 by
Hank
I had a raid 0 mirror with 2 30 gig drives. One died and all I had was a 40
gig to replace it. Now I want to start over and build a mirror with 2 40 gig
drives using the one 40 gig that was in the 30 gig RAID. The only problem is
that that 40 gig drive now only reads as 30 gig when I go to install...

Interesting problem by
Faeandar
I have alot of NetApp filers and for the most part they serve well.
But my problem is this; I potentially have 1k clients hitting the same
project and a real issue of 1k clients hitting the same filer.
While NetApp and WAFL are optimized for NFS even it gets dropped to
it's knees when this...

Legato Networker Label Issue by
Tony Alldis
Hi,
We have a tape that was written using Legato Networker V6.1 containing
information from a Tru64 UNIX system.
It appears that during a tape re-label operation in the jukebox, this
tape was accidently re-labeled with a bunch of tapes that we wanted to
re-label.
We have looked at the Legato...

New SAN software from Onaro by
Ab123
Just curious if anyone looked at the software from Onaro. Looks like
an interesting new paradigm of managing a SAN - intellegent realtime
monitoring of the SAN and changing it on the fly.
Any experiences/opinions?

Archiving SAP R/3 data by
Sjaak Gommans
Hello,
We want to start archiving R/3 data.
We are thinking of storing the archive files on an external file server, by
mapping this drive to the application server.
Has anyone experience with archiving the SAP-data on another server than the
application-server?
With kind regards,
