doorlight
I've searched through the forum, but haven't found a thread that was
similar to my situation, so hopefully someone here can help me.
I've been trying to burn some data onto a CD-R, but for some reason,
it won't let me. When I insert the disc (which my driver recognizes),
I right click on the drive...

Nero 5.5: mixed mode CD, why data on track 1? by
[email protected]
Hello.
In Nero 5.5, sometimes I choose to burn a CD in mixed mode, i.e.
containing audio tracks and data files. Whenever I choose the mixed mode
template, I find however that it always burns the data files in the first
track of the session, and audio begins with track 2 and onwards. How can I
make...

reserved spares on DVD-RAM by
Eric Gisin
I was looking at DVD-RAM properties in ImgBurn (Windows),
and noticed there is ~120MB reserved space, which are spares.
SCSI MMC-2 shows a spare area in each of 24 zones.
SCSI MMC-4 has information in section 6.27.2.11 on primary and supplementary spares.
I found more useful info he...

reading cd's by
species8350
Hi,
I use a Samsung combo sm-304b drive. Firmwa BS05
I have a lot of trouble reading music cd's.
Can anyone suggest some alternative software or firmware that would
improve the reading capability of my drive. If it also improves the
writing capability as well, all the better.

Yamaha 2200E and WIN2K by
Gigabyte
Anyone have any ideas why my yamaha drive isn't working properly with Win2K?
The drive reads just fine and plays audio. But I can't burn any CD's using
Nero 5.5 on W2K but I didn't have any issues with Win98.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks

CD RW and DVD writing technology by

Having struggled for years with the not-quite working technology that
is CDRW I now want to investigate DVD writing.
Here is the scenario:
We are a company with about 50 geographically seperate branches, we
want each branch to manage it's own backups. Data to be backed up
grows every day and has...

C1 and C2 errors by

Wroing reading of cdrw by
Graham Mayor
This is a sign of an inability to read the disc and a further indication
that CDRW discs (especially with packet software) are unsuitable for storing
irreplacable data.
Try and open the disc on another PC and copy the information from it to CDR.

Opinions wanted on error checks by
Noik
There are a few error check results at
http://home.comcast.net/~xxxyyz/CD-test/ . The top 4 are the same disk,
the top two checked at max speed (not quite 52x), and the next two at 16x
and 8x as indicated. What prompted me to post this was the C2 spikes in
the top two. Note that they occur at...

Replacing device in USB 2.0 external case by
h7x
I have a memorex 52x CDRW in an external USB 2.0 enclosure. I've taken
the case apart (not an easy or intuitive process), and put in my new LG
dual-layer DVD+R combo drive.
BTW, it seems that it's cheaper to buy a manufactured CDR+case on
closeout or with rebate than to buy an empty external case....
