Optimum temperature for P4 Prescott? by Bobby
My new CPU is an Intel P4 (Prescott) running at 3.0GHz. The CPU temperature is between 62-70C. Is that OK? It's higher than I'm used to (usually AMD CPUs which run cooler than this). Cheers. Bobby

Processor stepping by wayneP
Is there a way to tell the stepping of a Celeron D or Prescott P4 before ordering? I'm trying to avoid the XP SP2, Prescott, C0 stepping issue with a i865 mobo. I know there are workarounds but I usually have enough problems with the unknown; so I'd just as soon avoid the known. Wayne

Hi Folks, I just got an AMD 64 3400 PC with 1 GB ram. The speed is stunning compared to a P4 1.5 GHz DELL with very top-of-line equipment. Examples: Office XP installed in 1 minute. On P4 1.5 installed in 17 minutes. It boots 6 X faster than the P4 1.5.
