Memory by
Hello,
I have a Pentium 4 computer with 384MB of PC 233 DDR SDRAM. I have one stick
of 128MB and one stick of 256MB. I was hoping to place the stick of 128MB in
a Pentium II 400 computer. Since the computer will technically accept SDRAM,
I was wondering if DDR SDRAM would work in an older...

School Project - parts search by
Lois
Hi,
I have to design(schematic) a 80386SX system interfacing SRAM,
sensors, RS232, Memory Stick, LCD etc. I found some chips but how can
I tell if these parts will work with the microprocessors? Eg :
28F010(flash), 61C256(SRAM). Can you recommend some parts that do?
thanks,
lois

Optimum temperature for P4 Prescott? by
Bobby
My new CPU is an Intel P4 (Prescott) running at 3.0GHz. The CPU temperature
is between 62-70C. Is that OK?
It's higher than I'm used to (usually AMD CPUs which run cooler than this).
Cheers.

Processor stepping by
wayneP
Is there a way to tell the stepping of a Celeron D or Prescott P4 before
ordering?
I'm trying to avoid the XP SP2, Prescott, C0 stepping issue with a i865
mobo. I know there are workarounds but I usually have enough problems with
the unknown; so I'd just as soon avoid the known.

D850GB Memory Issues by
John C.
I have an Intel D850GB motherboard with a 1.4GHz P4 and 128MB RAM. The
BIOS recognizes the RAM size, but when the computer boots, the memory
check only reaches 28MB and it'll give 4 beeps and attempts to boot.
The memory are in two 64MB modules. Can someone suggest how to isolate
the problem...

Making a DIY BTX system by

DIY PC with an Intel BTX Motherboard and BTX Case
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1727911,00.asp?kc=ETRSS02129TX1K0000532
If you're used to making PC's with the old ATX cases, the BTX seems to
be quite a bit different.

My AMD 64 3400 15X faster than P4 1.5 by
John E
Hi Folks,
I just got an AMD 64 3400 PC with 1 GB ram.
The speed is stunning compared to a P4 1.5 GHz DELL with very top-of-line
equipment. Examples:
Office XP installed in 1 minute. On P4 1.5 installed in 17 minutes.
It boots 6 X faster than the P4 1.5.

Hi,
I have to decide on a new computer system to replace my aging PIII

I am looking at a dell system at around $500.
The main use of my system is computer graphics and games.
My understanding of the celeron processor (of many years ago) was that
