MSI Mega PC system, cooler question by

The fan that comes with the system will support upto 2.8 GHZ and I
wouldn't reccommend overclocking it or installing any other

Link to P4 Hyperthreading patch for XP by
Adrian
Oh, you mean this? I didn't even know there was a problem!
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;815227
Why on earth don't they let people download it? If it's performance
related, I would think it would be publically available for anyone to
download.

Do I have hard drive DMA? by
David Vanderschel
I am unsure about whether or not DMA is working on my
Windows 98 system. I have a 7200RPM Maxtor drive
(Ultra ATA/133), running off of an Iwill KD266
motherboard with a 1.2G Athlon using ALi chip set
(only does ATA/100). ALi has an IDE Cache Utility
which shows the current mode, and it shows...

No thermal paste? by
PentiumPunk
I just got my P4 2.4ghz 800mhz FSB processor in the mail. Instead of having
thermal paste (applicator), it has a black little strip called "thermal
interface material" Whats the deal? Do i need to put thermal paste on there
still? or will this strip work? Thanks! ~Brooks~

Need your opinions on these systems by

The second is clearly the faster of the two. However, in my opinion
computers used for work have no business being overclocked. Stability
and accuracy are what is needed for a work computer. These are
awesome gaming machines.

Hi all!
Need a little help. A friend brought me his Win98 box and said he opened
some attachments "or something" and now his PC will boot up until the end
of the post. Then there is a c prompt.
He has no idea which virus it might be ... so neither do I.
I'm inclined to simply reformat and start...

Memory and FSB speed compatibility?? by
J
Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a P4 2.4Ghz CPU (800Mhz FSB) and 512Mb of PC3200
(400Mhz????) DDR Ram to put into a MSI 865 Neo 2 Mobo.
Please excuse my ignorance, but can anyone tell me if the memory at 400Mhz
and the CPU with an 800Mhz FSB will run together ok on that motherboard?
Many thanks in...

Hey All,
Yesterday I received my new Maxtor Maxline II 250 GB drive from Newegg. I run WinXP

Thorough Format or Thorough Chkdsk, however, it freezes at about 60%, and just
never progresses any further. (Could...

LCD vs. CRT? by
Brooks
I heard CRT monitors can make you sterile and gives off alot of radiation. I
know it does give off some, but is it really that harmful? I mean i am on
the computer ALOT and it does kind of concern me. And do LCD's not give off
radiation or anything? They are completely harmless?
