P4S5A/DX+ by
Emanuel Schembri
Hi All,
I've been given an ECS motherboard, P4S5A/DX. It has an SIS645DX / SIS962
Chipset, 4X AGP Slot; audio and LAN on board and takes socket PG 478.
I would like to hear from someone who has used this type of mthrbrd to see
what they think of it; like how does it compare with ECS K7S5A...

HELP! "Keyboard is locked out - Unlock the key" by
Mitchua
Ok, this is a really weird problem. I just installed a new hard drive on my
Asus A7V266-E mobo and now when I boot up, I get the message "Keyboard is
locked out - Unlock the key" after the POST. Here's the strange part, when
I lay my PC on its side, I don't get the message and the PC boots up...

Do I need a case fan? by
Gary McQueen
Because my 333MHz K6-2 computer didn't need any, but the case I've
just got for my new Athlon has grilles at the front and back that I
assume are for fans. So do I need one? Do I need two? Should I just
wait and see how hot the thing runs first, or is that hardware
suicide? I did remember to get a...

Prefered P4 Motherboard? by
Chris
I'm looking to build a few Pentium 4 machines, using the 2.4GHz 800mhz
FSB P4 and I was wondering what the preferred P4 motherboard is. (I
don't say 'best' since that's highly debatable) In this instance these
are desktop machines for people who do a variety of graphics and office
applications such...

William Cheng
Hi all,
I have a bunch of drives hooked up to my new MB (Asus P4P800) and just
recently checked in WinXP that my primary drive Western Digital WD1200JB was
running in PIO mode. I swore when I put together the system at first that
it was running properly at UDMA5. I can't seem to get it into this...

Can't get any version of windows working on new MSI 875 Neo by
dg
I have just set up a P4 2.8 on a MSI 875 Neo with 512mb ram.
I have tried to install win 2000 but it hangs just past the startup
logo screen. I tried win 95 and 98 too and get the same .... after the
windows logo, the screen goes black with just a flashing cursor in the
top left corner and no key...

the fans, the fans! by
Andrew Z Carpenter
Hi folks,
OK, so I personally like the fans, and I don't
mind the noise. I find it comforting to know
they are whirring away in there moving air
over my components. But the wife wants it
quieter. It's true, when it's just sat there,
not doing much, it doesn't need so much air
movement, compared...

Howdy doody folks,
I'm stumped on this one. Sure seems like a simple thing, but I can't figure out
where the ribbon cable for this USB card plugs in. Got to be something obvious
I'm missing.
Take a look at this sketch of the card. I would sure appreciate a hand on...

Seagate Barracuda 120GB: 2mb or 8mb??? by

Is it worth dishing out the extra bucks for the 8mb version of the Seagate
Barracuda 120GB IDE hard drive? I'm looking for preformance but most of all
QUIET. I have 2 noisy sub-40GB drives now and I'm looking for something as
quiet as possible, with a bit more space as well. I hear the Seagates...

I couldn't find a display/monitor group so I'll try here.

It's fine for everything except black on white text.
If it's displaying black on white text and move the window horizontally the
test will appear to become lighter...

Worth overclocking memory? by
rAD
I've got some Kingmax PC2700 which will run at 200MHz but not stably. It'll
do 190 easy tho. Think it's worth running at that speed even tho it runs AGP
and PCI out of spec? I don't need to overclock the FSB in order to run my
XP1700+ at ~2GHz cuz the multipliers are all availbale up to 12.5x on...
