searching a laptop without Microsoft software by
Joris Gillis
Hi everyone,
For the past few days, I've been fruitlessly looking for a laptop that fits my demands; can you put me on the right track?
I am looking for a desktop replacement laptop (any brand) with a Windows 2000 or XP OS, but without any Microsoft Works or Office. You read that right, I do not...

TFT Monitor Buying Help. NEC - ViewSonic - Samsung - LG 2 by
[email protected]
Hi I'm about to jump onto the TFT bandwagon and really need some help
choosing a monitor. I have narrowed it down to a few and would like
people's opinion. I also would like to have if possible the glass
screen that some TFT's now have like Sonys X-Black technology or
NEC's OptiClear I think. Also...

WehaveThings by
[email protected]
Anybody know what is going on at WehaveThings.com? They took their
website away on Friday and left a page with a statement that they were
updating their site and would be back on 12/9 13:00. Now they have
changed it to say 13/9 @ 13:00. Is this another unbeatable.com, not
wanting to tell the world...

WTD: Tel no for PC World Guildford by
Odie Ferrous
Does anyone have a direct telephone number for PC World in Guildford
please?
The "manager" Stuart is the person I am trying to get hold of.
The number is not 01483 532 727 - it's been changed to an 0870 no. which
connects me to my local store.
Thanks

Reselling returns : Hard Plastic Ribbon Tape... by
Lordy
In my experience if you have that hard plastic ribbon tape on a package.
(You know the one you have to cut through with knife/door keys etc),
then its very likely a return thats been put back on the shelf...
Seen them at comet before and more recently Argos tried to fob me off with
one (Kerrio...

DABS - Which way did they go by
Jim Howes
Dabs.com seems to have gone off-air for the last 48 hours.
Packets seem to stop at a router in PIPEX space.
Has the mad JCB driver been at it again?

Ebuyer question by
jonny
Can anyone shed some light as to what as happened here?
I've ordered several bits from Ebuyer, the delivery date is tomorrow.
My credit card has been charged for all of the items that I ordered.
One of the items was an 84p mains lead. This same 84p mains lead has
now reappeared today as a separate...

Tekheads by

Ordered two hard drives, received only one. Wrapped in a small amount of
bubble wrap not evenly wrapped either the corners and sides are exposed.
Even if it works it will be potentially damaged. Stuffed in a 205x254mm
jiffy bag (the was a 3.5 inch drive)
Be warned

Dabs praise.. by
Dadio
I cannot believe I am saying this but over the past few months Dabs have
been pretty good. No cockups and fast delivery.
I have probably shot myself in the foot now but it is nice to be able to say
something good about them, so keep it up Dabs...... please, pretty
please...... thanks.

Comet by
Ros Fisk
hi, fell for the marketing trick and purchased a PC from Comet.
Once home and fired up it clearly had a hardware fault. I might have been in
the industry years but that counts for nothing, they have to have one of
their 16 year old know it alls look at it, who of course does not work...

RMA for Samsung drives? by
ComPCs
I've contacted Samsung regarding returning a faulty SATA drive, and they
told me to call 0208 6050 581, which I did.
A woman answered the phone (no company introduction, just a "hello") and
when I explained what I had, she said to send an email to
I did a WHOIS lookup, and have...

Ebuyers (RMA) service just gets better by
PL
Luckily I've not had that much need to return items to ebuyer, anyway.
But I've just received their response to an RMA request, which simply
put, says they'll ship out a replacement with no need to return the old
item.
For sure, it's a low cost item (£15) but what a first class service.

Novatech are watching you! by
John Perry
Since 1993, I can trace at least 67 invoices from Novatech and I have
spent far too much money with them, or my wife would think so if she
knew!
Purpose of post is that I made a comment in this group that Novatech
had forgotten to repay me my £10 + VAT. Guess what, today I had a
phone call from...

RedJag Computers? by
Chris Basford
Has anyone bought from this company (recently) and had problems? All
the reviews I have found have been glowing but they're really messing me
about at the moment (and apparently closed for the next week as well) so
wondered if I wasn't alone after all?

OT : Office licensing by
ComPCs
I am looking to 'upgrade' from Office 2000 to Office 2003, and was
wondering about the licensing arrangement for this, in respect that I
have a desktop PC and a laptop.
AIUI, so long as the user for each machine is the same person, you can
install a 2nd installation, in my case, on the laptop, and...

Warranty of replaced equipment by
Derek Baker
Last September my router - which I'd bought from my ISP - failed when it was
just under a year old, and the ISP replaced it.
The replacement had now failed.
Did my warranty run out when the first unit was a year old or did it begin
again with the new one?
Thanks in advance
