64-bit or 32-bit: When will it matter? by
aether
Building a computer from scratch. It'll be built for someone who'll use
it for alot of things, but tilted in the 'gaming' direction. Should
whether the processor is 64-bit or 32-bit matter? If not, when? If so,
how so? In other words, should I go AMD or Intel? I understand AMD is
slightly faster...

Intel's Pentium 4 600 series processors - The Tech Report - Page 1
http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q1/pentium4-600/index.x?pg=1
This particular page in the article is pretty interesting, describes all
of the hoops Intel is having to jump through to get Pentium 4 to run
coolly. There's no less...

64bit/64bit fixed point division? by
[email protected]
Hi!
I wrote a C++ class for a 64bit fixed point numeric format,
32bit integral and 32bit fractional. I wrote addition,
subtraction and multiplication operator routines (the latter
in inline assembly). Now I need an assembly routine to inline
to compute division, but I'm having many problems finding...

800 Mhz Frontside bus? by
Matias
Hi there, do you actually get 800 MHz on the front side bus or are you limited
by the memory clock speed, i.e. DDR 400? Or is the 800 MHz only between the processor
and the controllers (memory, north and south bridge)?

800mhz chip on a 400mhz FSB?? by
cathode
Very simple question with I am sure a simple answer...
I'm looking to upgrade my CPU. My i850 chipset board only has 400 mhz fsb.
If I stick a chip in built for a 533 or 800 mhz fsb will it work ok? Clearly
I won't get the the benefit of the higher-supported fsb speed, I'm just
looking for a...

80286 by

I heard that the 80286 had 20 bits in for each address in memory but an
address bus of only 16 bits!
How did I access a memory with this limitation?

8051 BIT by
Stu Cazzo
Hi,
Looking for what's out there in terms of built-in self-test
C language code for an 8051 product. Code snippet pointers
or even ideas on what would constitute a good BIT test
for an 8051 product. Already have in mind, a RAM test.
Any ideas on what else we can test for boot?

8051 development tools by
Stu Cazzo
Hello,
I want to get started on an 8051 project. I already
know C. What I am looking for is an 8051 eval board
that comes with a C compiler, flash burner, code
debugger, etc...
In other words, I want to develop some basic, generic
8051 code in C, compile, link, download it into eval
board and then...

8080 DAA opcode by

Can anyone point me at a reasonably detailed description of the
workings of the 8080 DAA instruction?
I've written an 8080 simulator but if I follow the details that I have
found for DAA then it doesn't quite work as expected. If I make a
very small change to the details (reading between the...
