2000fp Auto standby - How? by
Monkeys
Hi,
When shutting down my Dimension 8200, my Dell 20" LCD (2000fp) does not auto
stand-by. Instead it displays a window titled 'Check signal cable" and
showing 4 colour bars, which slowly moves around the screen a bit like a
screen-saver. Hitting the monitor off button gets rid of this, but is...

Will new Dimension 8300 run with Windows 2000 Pro? by
Bob Schor
I am considering replacing an old Dimension XPS 200 (Win95) with a
Dimension 8300. I really like Win2K, and don't much like WinXP. I
have a legal copy of Win2K -- will it run OK on the 8300? .

Notebook Not Starting by
Ron Chusid
I have a very sick Inspiron 5000e (out of warranty) which won't start,
and wonder if anyone has any idea if there could be anything simple I
could try to get it going.
For a few weeks, sometimes when loading Windows it would just stop
loading and stop where it was. I would have to hold down the...

Mounting a second hard disk by
PHroGman
My question is two fold.
Is it ok to mount a new 30 gb Maxtor slave drive with the curcut board up in
my Dell?
and
Can you use any power cable to power this drive or does it have to be the
power cable that is on the same line as my primary drive.

Danger Noob question on laptops by
Bob Bobsen
Hi,
I work in Denmark under contract and am planning on purchasing a
laptop. Will the warranty still apply through Dell Denmark? What about
power supply and changing keyboards? Has anyone else had good/bad
experiences?
Thanks in advance,
Bob

scsi connectors on dell poweredge 2600 by
Rusty Wright
I was wondering if someone could help me understand and figure out
which SCSI connector to use on the back of my Dell PowerEdge 2600.
It has 1 larger one, that's part of the back panel (same general area
as the keyboard and mouse connectors). It's about 4.5mm wide.
Then it has 2 smaller ones...

My daughter has totally screwed up her computer with Gazza (spelling?),

installing new memory by
Al
Got a second hand Dell OptiPlex Gn+ from my company. It has 64K
RAM. I bought two 128 memory chips from eBay so I am ready to try to max
out its memory to 256.
Can someone point me to a link that will show me how to install memory in
this machine? I can probably figure it out, but it would be...

Dell 2400 specs misleading, be careful by
NeverLift
I bought my 2400 from a wholesaler, it was preconfigured with what I
wanted except it didn't have a floppy. No problem; the specs say it
has an externally accessible 3.5" bay, and I have spare floppies from
other machines.
So I went to install my floppy. THERE IS NO BAY! A bay is a cage
into...

Installing Norton on Dimension 4500 with XP Home by
Jcmcdonald
I assume this is a simple question, but one I am stuck on. My son got a new
4500 a couple years ago to go off to school. It came loaded with WinMe and a
coupon for XP. He ordered XP with the coupon, but never bothered to upgrade
because, believe it or not Me was completely stable, and he had...

Unkonw "PCI Input Device" by
Terry
Hi,
I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on a new Dimension 2400. After installing
all drivers, there seems to be one still missing. Under Device Manager,
there appears an unknown "PCI Input Device". I can't seem to find any
appropriate driver for this. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Review of Inspiron 1100 2.4 gigahertz Pentium 4 by

I read a number of reviews of this machine before I bought it and
thought I would say a few things for those contemplating purchasing
it, or something similarly configured. I jumped on this notebook
without a ton of research but I think I lucked out.
I got the P4 2.4 gigahertz configuration, 40...

done this twice. I'd like to know if there's anything I can do to
