Intel Application Accelerator - do I want this or not? by
Joe
Ran Zif Davis WinBench 99 V2.0 before and after installing Intel
Application accelerator (IAA). Winbench results are generally WORSE
after installing IAA.
Bisiness Disk WinMark 99 (thousand bytes/sec):
Before IAA: 8140
After IAA: 6140
(same results for Disk Playback/Bus:overall)

D865GBF Trouble recognizing boot drive by
jos
I have bought a D865GBF mobo with a 2.4GHz 533MHz pentium 4 cpu.
I put a new IDE hard drive (master) and a cd drive (master), no flopy

When I boot the machine I am able to go to the BIOS and configure the
settings. I set the cd drive as the #1 booting drive. When I boot
the machine it pass...

Any such thing as Pentium III Celeron? by
Doc
Someone is selling a computer on ebay they're calling a Pentium III Celeron.
Maybe I have a misunderstanding of some issues. I was under the impression
that Pentium and Celeron were 2 different lines of Intel CPU's, the Celeron
being a "lesser" cousin of the Pentium.
If this isn't correct, please...

Performance Monitoring Hardware by
Learner
Hi All,
I was interested in doing some profiling to figure out basic block
execution frequencies and branch biases. This is the typical
information that one would need to do several profile based
optimizations (PBO).
An instrumentation based approach instruments the software to collect
profiling...

Does Itanium have any competition? by
John Savard
In a discussion on another newsgroup, it was pointed out to me that the
large die size of the Itanium is justified by other things besides its
large cache.
It is also highly superscalar.
Which leads me to a question.
Is seems to me that the AMD Opteron chips are comparable in performance,
or at...

SGI starts making Itanium-based workstations by
Yousuf Khan
http://www.ictworld.co.za/EditorialEdit.asp?EditorialID=20287
No sooner has HP stopped making workstations than SGI has stepped in to make
Itanium workstations. It looks like these workstations are a modification of
their existing Itanium servers, as they are supposedly capable of being...

No AGP Boot on D815EFV by
Jeff
Hello All,
Brief Question, I can't boot to an AGP card. I have selected AGP as the
default video displayed on boot in bios, but the imbedded PCI video is the
only one that comes up. The AGP card has been verified working from 2 other
Intel boards.
SPEC:
MoBo Gateway KittyHawk (#2514929), Intel...

sw7525gp2 for graphic workstation ? by

Having scanned available posts in this forum, I have added JK and bullmordt
to my kill fill. I mention this so that these two can save the effort of
posting to my question.
We are considering the Intel se7525gp2 and 2 800fsb Xeon processors at 3 gig
for a graphic workstation. The only card to be...

Desktop Board D915PBL Acceptable CPU and zones temperatures?? by
JAS
I have a D915PBL with a 3.4 550 processor and run a rear 120mm, side,
top, and front 80mm
fans, and yet the CPU temp is 115 F, and the zones at 92 F.
The Intel site said that the threshold temp is 167, but I thought that
overheating would start much earlier.
My P4 3.06 runs 6 fans and the cpu is...

Some Intel Questions / Comments by
Caecina
I'm going to build a computer for someone, but before I do so, I'd like to be
clear on a few things.
- what's on the horizon for Intel? I've heard something new (or just faster)
will be released in November? What, exactly? Would it be better to wait until
November for whatever's coming?
- I'm...

SE440BX-2 motherboard and 600MHz Pentium III processor by
Emeric Maschino
Hi there,
I own an Intel SE440BX-2 motherboard, assembly 720932-204. From the
Intel documentation, it should support all Pentium III Katmai processors
up to 600MHz. It currently runs an old Boxed 450MHz Pentium II processor
and I had an opportunity to get my hand on a new Boxed 600MHz Pentium
III...

D875PBZ + USB2 by

I have a D875PBZ mobo and recently had to do a re-install from

on the install CD. I found an Intel driver update on an onscure French
site that resolved the issue, but now I have others (problems) that
are compelling me to do a...

Itanium float vs int performance by

I heard a rumor that floating point operation the the 64bit Itanium
processors perform faster than integer operations. I do not see how
this is possible. Can someone enlighted me? I would appreciate it. If
this is not true, I want to put these rumors to rest among my colleages.
Thanks in...
