OCZ SDD drives destroyed by hard reset or power off? by John Doe
I am getting the unpleasant feeling that my SDD is dying, again. I have done a button style power off and one or two hard resets recently. And now I am getting a CHKDSK error. In any case, if the indication is correct, this will be the second OCZ SDD that has gone belly up in my system.

PC randomly freezes for about 20 seconds by Jimbob[_3_]
Hello, My PC has started to randomly lock up for about 20 seconds. This only started last Friday after no issues what so ever, no new software or hardware were installed prior to this. I did think it was my harddrive as the LED would stay on during the lockups but i ran Crystal Disk h/d tool and...

IE 7 questions by hp
I was rooting around the wife's laptop, (its older so it only has a 40giggle HD) and noticed that it needed a little cleaning out because after some years of using it she was getting closer to 10% free space. One of the things I found was that we had updated it as time went along and she now...

Users that have a UPS but no data backup by John Doe
I wonder how many users are sold an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) but don't have a backup of important files from their hard drive. They need a UPS to save a tiny amount of data at risk from a rare prolonged power outage, but risk losing everything on their hard drive due to simple...

Price of HDD by The Seabat
Holy crap, has anyone noticed the fast rise of high prices for SATA hard drives? I bought a 4-drive NAS container a couple of months ago and decided to do some research on the reliability and performance of various 1 and 1 1/2 TB hard drives. When I bought the storage unit you could get 1TB hard...

RAM Not Recognized by BIOS by TVeblen
We are seeing more and more cases of new systems in which RAM modules that are compatible by specification to a motherboard are not recognized and freeze the system from booting unless a BIOS version upgrade is performed. This is new to me - getting a BIOS to recognize to-spec modules. I rehab...

Best keyboard in a long while: Manhattan-Products model SKB-2 Slim Keyboard by RayLopez99
Nice tactile feel. Very slim. Cheap (around $10 here in SE Asia). keys are not "loose" and feel like "metal" though plastic. The keyboard does not shake like most cheap plastic kbs. Has a "metal" feel and is heavy, which is good since you don't want it moving around when you press it. Very...

OT Captcha, commin atchah? by John Doe
Is it just me, or is Captcha getting a little too difficult to translate lately? Taking two or three tries sometimes. Seems to me they could figure out a better way of doing that, so that we humans can see it easily.

saw off number pad to narrow the KB? by Patrick[_8_]

OT Shamu plays with pussy by John Doe
YouTube has got to be the most marvelous invention on the Internet (after UseNet of course). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC-62_0ig5k That is so incredible IMO, how a monster like that can play with a woman and not rip her apart. She actually had about 200 stitches, not "1000". Can you...

Highest-quality, best general-purpose cordless mouse? by John Doe
I don't want a mouse that is "as good as any", I am looking for the best cordless mouse. In your opinion, which is the best general-purpose cordless mouse on the market? Obviously it's going to cost more than most, but it might not be the most expensive. My Logitech "MX Revolution" cordless laser...

Overclocking & cpuz info by anotherpaul[_2_]
The "old PCs" thread got me into trying overclocking on my 2007 Gigabyte GA-P35-DSR3 rev 2 with the Intel E6550 & 8 gigs of Corsair ram. Looked up "howtos" & did it, sortof(?). The cpu freq is at 400 mhz & the multiplier at 7x; had the cpu vcore set to 1.400. Now the bios shows cpu speed of 2.8...
