OT Speaking of privacy by
John Doe[_9_]
Have you seen some of the remote-controlled helicopter with camera
technology lately? It's getting very interesting. I can see some
serious invasion of privacy concerns and corresponding laws being
enacted. Personally, I think a BB gun would do. Do your
reconnaissance and get out before the enemy...

Help with new build not starting. by

I put a system together to run bare bones until I get used to using the

the components assembled on a test case.

Memory voltage question. by
Al Drake
I visit the crucial web site and find that for one my motherboards
there is RAM that is rated at 1.5 and 1.35 volts. I have a problem with
finding what Gigabyte says is required for this ga-z97x-ud5h board.
As a side note about Crucial where they show information about their
memory with...

Mouse wakes computer from deep sleep? by
John Doe[_9_]
In an earlier thread, someone said you should stop the mouse from
waking the computer. I thought that was a great solution.
Unfortunately, using Windows 81, the mouse just woke the computer
from deep sleep anyway. I immediately checked the mouse setting
"Allow this device to wake the computer" and...

Can Non ECC ram be installed/used on a motherboard which supports ECC.
I have googled this but not found a definitive answer.
There are plenty of links saying ECC ram on a Non ECC board, which is
not what I want.

OT HTML5 video speed up and slow down video shortcut keys? by
John Doe[_9_]
HTML5 has a menu setting for speeding up and slowing down video
playback. Are there shortcut keys for that? I did some research but
didn't find those shortcuts. I found a page with shortcuts, but it
did not include slower and faster playback of video.
Thanks.

slow PATA disk in Centos by
[email protected]
While building some workstations with Centos operating system,
I found some Deskstar 320 GB PATA disks that were hardly used (about 30 hours).
I used these for swap and tmp, although swap shouldn't be used, as there is
heaps of RAM. I used SATA disks for root and home.
Now I find this Deskstar is...

How do hybrid drives work? by
Charlie Hoffpauir
Can someone explain how hybrid drives work? I understand SSD's and how
they have to be "cleaned up" using TRIM or some other means, but does
a hybrid have some built-in mechanism to do a similar function on the
solid state portion of the hybrid?

Before installing a heatsink. I would like to fill in some gaps

Stop Windows Retarded from changing folder columns? by

Is there a way to stop Windows 7 from changing folder columns when
you happen to copy or move certain files into a folder?
That IMO is one of the most annoying, frustrating, idiotic things
Windows has ever done.
Thanks.
