Why cant video 3d cards have heaps of memory? by
Gabriel Knight[_11_]
Why is it your average new video card of today dosnt have any more than 2-3
gig of memory on them? They have SSD drives now and flash drives with upto
32 gig so why cant new video cards have about 40 to 60 or more memory on
board? Is it to expensive to make or buy or other?
Thanks

X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 soundblaster seems to be dead. by
Skybuck Flying[_7_]
Hello,
Lately every day I turn on my computer I fear another disaster and low and
behold today another tragedy:
It seems the X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 soundblaster has died.
I opened the case and I noticed a little dust particle on metal pins of the
soundblaster PCB.

any low-latency DRAM without overclocking? by
Orson Cart
I was looking for some reduced latency DDR2. One example being Kingston HyperX,
but I find it needs 2.3 volts to achieve the 800CL3 claim, i.e. it is an overclocked
setup. I think with half a volt extra, the life might suffer a bit.
I looked for some others, and they also required the extra...

Working without a backup of your Windows C drive is like trying to
compose a document without being able to save copies.

HDD as secondary

Will an 8x AGP graphics card work in a 4x AGP mainboard ? by
Zax
Hi, in general will an 8x AGP graphics card still be able to work in a 4x
AGP mainboard?
I'm wanting to upgrade the graphics card of a Compaq desktop PC, which is
about 9 years old. The mainboard of it has AGP version 2.0, max supported
transfer rate of 4x.
What are the chance of this 8x AGP...

Rebates are a bad joke by
Davej
Just got a card from Patriot Memory about a couple USB thumbdrives I
had bought from NewEgg a few months ago. Apparently the rebate was
only good for a limit of one unit, even though that was not clearly
stated on the rebate form, so they sent me a postcard saying that my
rebate request was invalid...

Insufficient current over USB ports by
Man-wai Chang
I just discovered that the USB ports on my Asus M3N78-PRO motherboard
are not supplying sufficient current. The result: power-demanding USB
devices like a Canon USB 2.0 scanner and an iPod Touch 3 would appear
then disappear then appear then ... in the device list.
Isn't there a USB 2.0...

OT How does Firefox start (plugin-container.exe)? by
John Doe
How does Firefox start (plugin-container.exe)?
I would like to change Firefox's command for starting that program.
Is there a way to access and edit the command Firefox uses for
starting that program?
I know this is a tough question.
Thanks.

Building your own computer by

How hard (or easy) is it to build your own super fast state of the art
computer? Is it something a person that's never tried it could do on
his own in a reasonable amount of time? Would I be able to get some
good help from the group? Is it worth it?

Keyboard utilities for Sony VAIO PCG-TR2 by
Man-wai Chang
I forgot to back up the recovery partition for an old VAIO PCG-TR2
before trashing it. Now I lost the ability to adjust the sound volume
and monitor brightness via hot-keys.
Any help to find relevant (keyboard?) drivers would be appreciated.
