Solution for X-Com Enemy Within Freezes and Crashes (Especially on terror mission) by Skybuck Flying[_7_]
Hello, I've been playing some X-Com Enemy Within today and I noticed some freezes/hangs and crashes. I started to wonder if maybe multi tasking or some other timing related setting is the cause of this. Then later the game always frooze up on the first terror mission (london for me).

Like I have 3 GB of RAM, but Windows show 2.5 GB. I was told because it is a shared memory? :( Thank you in advance. :) -- "I've been on some fairways that are as good as the greens we putted on back then. We had crab grass. I remember one green where I putted through ants." --Sam Snead Note:...

nvidia GTX 970 4 GiB stuffup by [email protected]
So these cards have 3.5 GiB and 0.5 GiB of memory. We went throught this about 10 years ago with Intel northbridge, where a 32-bit Windows saw typically 3.25 GiB with 4 GiB installed. If you had PAE linux, you got almost 4 GiB, but not continuous. Didn't nvidia learn from history? Repeat!

Alien Isolation crashes during hickup/slowdown (sound system crash suspected). by Skybuck Flying[_4_]
Hello, I have not yet seen a fix for this game, so I thought I report this problem: The game seems to crash when there is a hickup/slowdown during playing. I suspect it's sound system related. The PC is too slow to keep up and something sound-related causes a crash.

(NVIDIA) Fan-Based-Heatsink Designs are probably wrong. (suck, don't blow ! heatfins direction) by Skybuck Flying[_7_]
Hello, I am starting to believe that NVIDIA's Fan-Based-Heatsink Designs like the recent GTX 690 are totally wrong ! And here is why: The heatsink fins are placed in the same direction as the airflow. This will cause dust to easily get stuck between the heatsink fins and especially in front...

6600GT and needed power supply by ...D.
OK. Bought a 6600GT AGP online for $216. Works great - after I had to take care of one little thing. Now, I had researched this card in the last few weeks. Either here in this newsgroup - somewhere anyway, I read that the minimum power supply for the 6600GT was 300 watts. Well forget it. At...
