Toshiba Laptop Crash Recovery Advice by
Andrew Johnston
I have a Toshiba Satellite 5105 that suffered a hard disk crash the other
day--for awhile, it was asking me for the HD passsword at boot (I never set
one), which I understand was a symptom of a serious disk problem.
Miraculously, it booted today and I was able to organize the essential

40mm fan dying - replace? by
Andrew Kerr
Hello,
I have a Gigabyte 7VAX motherboard, AthlonXP2000. The 40mm fan on the
chipset is dying a quick, noisy death.
The first question is, I guess, is this fan really necessary? I don't have a
case fan (computer didn't come with one) and the place I bought this
computer is out of business. My...

Pentium 4 running too hot by
Andrew Langley
I built a new system with a Pentium 4 3ghz processor and an MSI
motherboard. The processor runs at about 60 degrees C and sometimes
goes up to 65 to 70. Sometimes the computer will reboot during heavy
processing loads.
I have tried different fan/heatsink combos, installing two new case
fans, and...

Soldering a DVI connector by
Andrew Sarangan
I was wondering if anyone has soldered a DVI connector, and how
difficult it is to do. I need to route a DVI cable through a small
hole, so I am planning on routing the bare cable through the hole and
soldering the connector afterwards. Crimp terminals would be nice,
but I was unable to find such...

What Is Linux? by

Linux is a free operating system that was created by Linus Torvalds

like moving my mouse to opening MIRC. opening the programs took my CPU usage
