RAID - SATA & SATA II confusion by [email protected]
I want to add 4 WD caviar black 1TB 3 Gb/s SATA hard-drives in RAID 10 in my system, but I do not want to use firmware/driver-based/fake/ hostRAID so I won't use my motherboard's RAID capability (ASUS P6T deluxe V2 in RAID 5) and use hardware RAID instead. I'm planning to buy an adaptec RAID...

Suggestions for Core 2 Duo systems that use PCI - not PCI express? by geoff
Hello, I actually do not see why a newer core would be faster. 45 nm technology, for example, is the size of the gate or transistor, and more can be placed on the chip but that, by itself, would not mean faster. The only two thing I can think of, with regard to the core only, not the caches,...

Where get tactile keytop sticker for keyboard by Trev[_2_]
I have some custom functions assigned to some keys on my keyboard. I want to mark those keys so I don't have to look down and confirm I'm pressing the correct key. I figured I'd stick some blobs with a different feeling on those keys but that wasn't very successful. Then I figured I could to...

Suggestions for Core 2 Duo systems that use PCI - not PCI express? by darklight
muzician21 wrote: Right now I'm running a 2.4 gig P4 on a Soyo Dragon mobo. I could upgrade to a socket 478 3.4gig processor and get about a 30% bump in speed which wouldn't be bad, but it's my understanding going to a Core 2 Duo chip I could see a much bigger increase. I dont need to...

DDR2 1066 vs. 800 by pawihte
With a reasonably fast computer - something like an AMD Phenom X4 920 - how much difference in performance can be expected by switching between DDR2 800 and 1066, all other things remaining the same? A couple of fps in gaming and a few % in rendering movie files? Not even that or more than that?
