The name of the motherboard in 4550? by Edward J. Neth
It's a Dell proprietary board - the power connector is standard, but the front panel connector is not. Most of these were made by ASUS and Hon Hai/Foxconn for Dell. .. "MStepansky" wrote in message ...

Does Dell make the best gaming laptop? by John Noory
Just wondering: does Dell make the best laptop for gaming in its Inspiron 8500? Or is there another laptop that is as good or better than the 8500 when it comes to playing games? I know laptops aren't primarily meant to be gaming machines, but I will play games (especially flights sims...

Upgrading fans in Dimension XPS by David Arnstein
My Dimension XPS is loud, loud, loud. The weather is getting warm where I live, and the computer sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I see that there are many fancy 92 mm fans for sale, but this upgrade could be tricky. The fans are variable speed, and I don't know if the sensor that controls the fans...

My client had a GPS hooked up to the COM port and the GPS shorted out. The Dell field tech replaced the motherboard, but the COM port is still not functioning, even using a serial mouse. Anyone have any ideas?

Dell XPS or AlienWare Machine? by Tom Scales
Other than the front panel switches, Dell uses pretty darn generic components, including power supplies. My question, though, wasn't Alienware vs. XPS, it was Alienware vs. 8300. LOTS more than a $200-300 difference. Tom "David Arnstein" wrote in...
