D: Drive Disappeared by
Bob
For no apparent reason, I lost the D: drive in Win2K. It shows up on
the BIOS POST, so I know it's there. The IDE channel is present in
Device Manager. Devide Manager also reports that the physical drive is
present and working properly. It just does not show up in Win2K.
What is going on and what...

Iraq Less Violent than Washington, D.C.
Despite media coverage purporting to show that escalating violence in
Iraq has the country spiraling out of control, civilian death
statistics complied by Rep. Steve King, R-IA, indicate that Iraq
actually has a lower civilian violent death rate than...

Corrupt NTFS Filesystem by
Bob
Almost every time I reboot my Win2K/SP4 system, CHKDSK runs because
Win2K detected a "corrupt ntfs filesystem" on the boot disk. Every
once in a while I get a BSOD instead, in which case I have to move the
bad disk to D: and run CHKDSK manually from inside Win2K.
In both instances CHKDSK fixes the...

Video Out by
Bob
Does the standard video have a composite video out? I believe you need
a special DB connector with an RCA jack on one end.
If so, can you play DVDs on your computer and view them with an
ordinary TV that has Line In? I assume you can connect the Line Out
from the sound to the TV Line In with a...

Hardware Backup by
Bob
I have been evaluating the Enermax ES-352 3.5" PATA HD backup system
for a couple months now. It works roughly as advertised in the backup
mode if you are careful about what disk-based s/w you are running.
However, the manufacturer is unwilling to support the unit in terms of
providing extra trays...

Power consumption of IOGear Portable Harddrive by
Bob
Hi,
Does anyone know what is the power consumption of the IOGear GHD225U40
portable hard drive?
On their web page, which I doubt is correct:
http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GHD225U40&sec=Specifications#display
The power consumption of this little beast is 5V 2.1A. That sounds...

Hi all,
I have just bought a LG 1750SQ LCD monitor and is puzzled by the fact that
this monitor does not know when to go to sleep.

"Check Signal Cable", albeit it moves around the screen much like a screen
saver. Of...

lcd monitor/on or off by
Bob
Just purchased a 17 in lcd monitor, first one I've owned. This is probably a
dumb question, but when the monitor is switched off, should the power supply
be turned off also, unplugged. Something about the green light glowing at
all times seems to bother me. Then again, unplugging a lot might not...

Blurry Video On A DVDR Recording by

I swapped out an Ilo DVDR05ZU for an Ilo DVDR05MU. I was told by a
CyberHome tech support person that the ZU and MU versions have
different chip sets. The "servo" (laser mechanism) appears to be the
same because the same "front end" firmware is used on both types.
I had previously formatted some...
