John
Nero upgrade from v5.5 to v6 problem: 'drive is in use by another
application'
There is much about this in the web and usenet litrerature - possibly
exclusively with WinXP - there appears to be a solution in which
something called IMAPI has to be controlled.
However, I have the problem with...

I am using Nero 6 Ultra, as a complete newbie, and I am trying to burn a
cd, converting from mp3 to cda. I have used both the Express process (Audio
CD) and the "regular" process, again choosing "Audio CD". Both times, the
tracks go on fine, and I can play them on a computer, but when I try to...

EAC rips too fast by
EAC ripped at about 10x on my old Lite-On burner. This is using the secure
mode. I have a new LG burner, and the speed starts right out at about 18x
and works up to the high 30's by the end of the rip. That's pretty fast.
Does it sound right to you?
The rips are fine.

Redbook by
Larry B
Pardon my naivete. I understand that burning an audio CD conforming to
Redbook standards is desirable. Does this mean that the copy is a
bit-for-bit copy??
Which common burning programs will make "exact" copies of CD's??
I now have Record Now DX that came with my burner. Does it??
Thanks, LarryB

Unable to access CD-ROM by

No matter what CD-ROM I put in the drive (Samsung 52X), it is not
recognized by Windows XP. When I go to My Computer, it shows the name
of the CD but when I double-click it, right-click Open or right-click
Auto-play it, it doesn't respond. I have three partitions, C: (NTFS)
D: (FAT32) and E:...

Favorite brand of DVD-R media? by

I'm looking for something akin to Taiyo Uden CDR media: great reliability
(first consideration) and reasonable price. Is there an analog in DVD-R
media?
Thanks for any suggestions.

DVD+R 4X by

A week ago my local 'CompUSA' has some DVD+R discs on sale.
The packaging stated that they will only work in a '4X' burner.
Are DVD+ media not backwards compatible like CDR media?
