Refused an RMA by
scoot
I just bought some additional RAM from komplett, to go with an identical
stick I bought from them a year ago. Now it turns out since then the
(twinmos) RAM is being made with different chips, and even though the sticks
have the same part numbers my PC crashes when they are combined. In their
emails...

Rejecting an LCD. by
Derek Baker[_2_]
What is the position wrt dead pixels and the distance selling regs?
Is it possible to reject a received LCD, even if it does not meet the
manufactures/ retailers stated dead pixel policy?
I'm planning a buy, bot rejecting one I've got.
Thanks

Reliable external HDDs? by
ric
Hi,
Got a mate who wants a reliable external HDD to share between Mac and
PC.
Can anyone recommend one that doesn't have crappy cooling that's going
to kill the internal drive eventually? Odie, if you're around, are
there any that you don't hate?

remember those cheap AOC 19" TFTs that ebuyer were doing? by
Paul Hutchings
Who actually brought one? What do you think of it?
I didn't and now I'm (again) getting sick of looking at a 15" TFT at home
and an 18" TFT at work because the one at home suddenly seems a lot smaller
than it did before I got my new work PC :-)
I see that savastore.com and pcnextday (never heard...

Replacement key caps for Inspiron 8000 by
Tiny Tim
I need a few replacement key caps for my Dell Inspiron 8000 laptops as they
lettering is wearing off. Dell are playing silly buggers. The keyboard is
otherwise just fine so I don't really need a full replacement. Can anyone
recommend a cheap source for such things?
Thanks,
Tim.

Reporting back on RAMBUS RDRAM purchase, and a question by
Abso
So a few weeks ago I asked in this group about compatible RAM for my
system and this lead me to buy 2 x 256 MB RAMBUS RDRAM RIMMs on eBay
for a total price of £75. This was as an alternative to paying Dell
£522 for a memory upgrade as suggested by their tech support pages -

Hey there lovely knowledgeable people!
I am in the market for a new (or refurbished/reconditioned) laptop, but the
only snag is that it MUST have at least an 80 gig hard drive, so I can store
all my backed up music on it for my iPod. Oh, and a Firewire port is always
good to connect the iPod to as...
