I am trying to copy a VCD onto my PC to view it from there (as the VCD won't
work in my DVD player, or my PC from the CDR). So i thought i'd try to copy
it to my hard drive and watch it from there.
However, whilst copying the files over, i get a 'cyclic redundancy...

Packet Writing in Windows Vista! by
Gerry_uk
Hi,
Packet writing is where your CD or DVD drive gets a drive letter and you
can read/write files just like any other hard drive, thumb drive etc.
I've done extensive testing of UDF packet writing in Vista. It doesn't
require additional software such as Direct CD or InCD.
I've tested CD-RW and...

cyclic redundancy check by
Howard Kaikow
I've seen nasty comments about Memorex media.
However, it is best to use only media recommended by the drive manufacturer.
Check the manual that came with the drive and the drive manufacturer's web
site.
If Plextor, they actually give media part numbers for each...

Cdr questions by
mike333
Since the PCA (program callibration area) is nearest the start of the
cdr disc (Next to the
center), is it used as the sole method of deciding if a disc is
blank? As the PCA is used
the first time a disc is written and therefore there is no point
checking further on into
the disc's data?

Recording "On the Fly" by
lynn lucas
Does anyone know the best way to record a computer's screen & audio
while it is displaying? I know there's a couple of screen-recording
programs but I'm looking for something a little easier to use. I'd
just like to pipe everything that is showing on my monitor out to a
dvd or cdr. I have a...

cant burn read only files by
PCportinc
using cd-rw's I can burn archive or read only files using Roxio
DirectCD, but not to cd-r's.
using cdr's, I either have to change all the files' attributes or
zip all files.
Is this common?
how do I change all the files' attributes at once instead of going into all the
folders and sub-folders?

Stand alone TDK CD label printer - good buy? by
Bill L
Hi all
Simply Computers (UK) are selling a TDK CD/DVD printer for £77.99. I know
Epson do a printer that'll print CD's directly but I think this is over £250
and I all ready have a HP 940C anyway. I don't know if anyone has used one
of these but it does seem to spell the end to miss-aligned CD...

Plextor CDR Media - Taiyo Yuden? by
Paul Hutchings
I'm after some good quality CDR media (mostly for audio use) and want jewel
cases.
I used to use Kodaks but they don't make media any longer..
I've seen 80min Plextor media for 32p inc VAT with jewel cases, and I
believe this is made by Taiyo Yuden who have a reputation as being one of
the best...

Free Money!!! This Really Works!!! by
Free Money Guy!
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL!!!!!
You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for it!!
Like most of us I was a little skeptical and little worried about the legal
aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the
U.S. Post Office (1-800-238-5355)
and they confirmed that it is indeed...

Nero 6 actual burning speed by
BobS
Hi,
A while ago, back with Nero 5.5, there was a mod to the registry to indicate
the actual speed Nero was writing to a CD at. That mod worked great. Now
that I have installed Nero 6 (after uninstalling 5.5), Nero just indicates
the nominal speed. Is there a similar fix to make Nero 6 show the...
