Ram speeds by
Eric
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out what ram is best for an Intel 915P based
motherboard with an 800mhz FSB and a dual channel memory interface. Is
there any benefit to having ram faster than pc2-4200 (400mhz) even tho the
memory interface supports as fast as 533 mhz ram?
Thanks,
Eric

Stupid Newbie Alert by
I.C. Koets
It has been a good 10 years running my 100MHz Pentium, but it has come to
the end of its useful life. I need to get myself a new computer. I am a
tinkerer, however, so I'd like to build it myself. My knowledge is from the
time that PCI slots were coming into fashion as the new hot thing, so I am...

MotoXxX
Hey there!
I have a new P4 3Gig chip and MB with appropriate DDR RAM and a new
NVIDEA 8x AGP video card yet it won't even get to the POST.
Realistically, shouldn't it get to the POST (BIOS) even if there were
a problem with any of the rest? This only happened to me once before
and it was a fried...

Hi there, I'm hoping some might be kind enough to help me out as I
know nothing about computers anymore and would rather not do 20+ hours
of research...
What I do:
Surf and play poker on-line: Not power intensive.
What I would like to do:
Play newer shoot'em up games: Very power intensive.

Jeff Graham
My wife's Compaq Presario 5000 turns off by itself after about 10-15 (with
no error messages) minutes whenever she plays games on it. Also it did the
same twice when she attempted to do a factory restore using the recovery CD.
But when it runs idle it doesn't turn off.
When it turns off, she cam...

Hard Disk not seen by W Me..? by

Help, Guys! I've just installed a new Maxtor HD 120MB as a Primary Slave on
my 3yr old Windows Me PC. BIOS sees it automatically and everything looks
OK (to me) in the Setup menu, with the original HD properly identified as
Primary Master and the new HD as Primary Slave. But Windows Me is...

It's the other way around, voice is the less common feature,
any (common, normal) analog modem does Data & Fax.

Hello-
My rig for downloading, fooling around, testing, surfing has an Athlon

My friend gave me his old PC which is essentially the same setup but

I want to keep one of them. Which is the best processor and why?
I tried to find shootouts/comparisons/etc with no luck.

My nephew has entered a BIOS password for his (relatively new) Gateway

I have somehow odd problem with this combination. It seems impossible to
make this Iwill card work on first three PCI slots. Why, beats me, Google
haven't helped but I've tried it on two other boards (KT133A and KT400
chipset) and it works fine in slots higher than PCI 3.
What I've tried until now...

power fluctations by

Hi all,
Just wondering what's so different in technology, that when there's a power
fluction for a couple of seconds, my P4 system w/ 350W psu is unaffected,

I realise we're talking vast differences in operation and a good 10 years

Elonex Exentia Bronze by
John \O\
I've recently purchased an Elonex Exentia Bronze model and wondered how easy
it would be to replace the current 120GB HD with a larger capacity. Is the
HD easy accessible as I don't want to start taking any panels\doors off it
until I know for sure if its simple to do so.
