How does Nero OEM tell what drive you have? by
Chip
I am told that Nero OEM only works with the drive it was sold with.
But I have flashed my MSI CR32-A2 with Optorite CW5205 firmware, so the
drive is - in effect - now an Optorite drive. It shows up as such in
Windows, CDSpeed, Infotool, Sandra, etc etc.
But Nero Burning Rom still works! I would...

OK, I Know What is the best media..... How do I tell before buying? by
HiTechLuddite
I was told in this group that Taiyo Muden makes the best CDR media.
While shopping for new blanks the other day I looked at all the
packaging and found no reference on any of it as to who made it. The
best I could do was made in Japan or Taiwan or Malaysia. I looked at
the discs for a manf code and...

Changing default Nero Volume Label? by
Chew
Is there a way to change the default Volume Label in Nero? It's
always set as "NEW" now. This would be useful especially when you
have to burn lots and lots of cd's with a different label. Any ideas?

[comp.publish.cdrom] CD-Recordable FAQ -- pointer by
Andy McFadden
This is not the CD-Recordable Frequently Asked Questions posting, but
rather a pointer to it. I'm posting this because there may be propagation
problems with the FAQ (it's rather large for a Usenet posting), and some
sites have automatic filters that think it's spam. This is also going
out to...

possible to bypass hardware error correction? by
Nikolas Tautenhahn
Hi there,
I am a student of mathematics and I am currently taking a course in
coding theory. During a talk, the question was raised, whether one could
improve error correction / quality of audio cds with "newer" hardware
(After all, when the cdrom and audio-cd standards were made,...

I'm Looking for Slim CD Case Spine Labels by
Ellen Hall
I've found several programs that offer these labels. Has anyone used a
program that they would recommend?
I don't need inserts or CD labels -- I only want to print spine labels for
the slim CD cases.
Thanks.

Audio Sound Quality by
[email protected]
I recently acquired a CD burner (LG GCE 8520B) and it works fine. I
also acquired Nero Express 5.5, purchased separately. For the first
time I tried burning some audio CDs to CD-R, and they sound fine. But
recently with one particular CD, which is a recording of a symphony
orchestra, I've...

Mitsui & Taiyo Yuden CD-R blanks still the best? by
[email protected]
Years ago when I was buying blank CD-R's, I wanted to buy only the
highest quality brands that were especially believed to last
significantly longer than other ones that were known to become
degraded eventually over the years. Back then, the brands that seemed
to have the best reputations were...

where do I get in USA - cd rings & dummy discs? by

I need the clear dummy cd discs, and either the foam or solid plastic
rings that go at the top of a stack of cdr's.
where do I find this stuff? and by what names do they call them? I
know they are not called stacking rings, because that is a feature of
the cd itself.
I know I can go to...

The problem is that for all intents and purposes, the files ARE
written to the CD, but when I try to access it through
My Compute\ there is no name showing on the drive,
and I can't read any files,...

Do I want 32X CDRW media? by
mike
I bought a liteON 52/32/52 drive.
I can't find any (locally) RW media faster than 24X.
In researching, it appears that the 32x media is
fundamentally different from 24x and down. And it
seems that the 32x stuff is largely untested in the
real world.
Is the 24x stuff any better in terms of...

Audio CD-RWs? by
Nikos Chantziaras
I just burned a CD-RW medium as an Audio CD. Yes, I know that they can't be
used on CD players. But I thought that playing them back on the PC's CD-ROM
drive would be OK. Well, it isn't. My question is simple: Why is that?
Not even the drive I used for burning is able to play it back.
Note: It...
