Missing data by
A couple of years ago I recorded some data to a CD, then I recorded
some more data to the CD. When I checked the first session had
disappeared. I know it's there because the space available says it's
there but it can't be seen.
It's not desperately important data but it irritates me to...

DVDXCopy by
Connected
Weren't these guys taken to court and told to stop selling their DVD
movie copying software? I ask because I was in a store in Canada
yesterday (London Drugs) and they had a copy of DVDXCopy on the shelf
for $99.00 CAD. The box stated that it would let you copy any movie. I
asked the clerk if they...

CDR Longevity by
jason
Is there a rule of thumb as to how long a music CD-R might last that
hasn't been subjected to any kind of "abuse" (scratches, extreme temps,
direct sunlight,chemicals,etc)?
I've read that CD-Rs do have a finite lifespan.If this is true,what
signs (if any)
are there that one has started to...

Does Nero CD-DVD Speed support CD-R discs? by
Allen Weiner
I downloaded Nero CD-DVD Speed Version 2.20 from www.cdspeed2000. It
functions normally for me for data CD-ROMS (e.g. Streets & Trips) and
for CD-RW discs. However it does not recognize previously written CD-R
discs. When run with a previously written CD-R disc, the "disc type"
and "length"...

DriveImage 2002 unreadable CDs by
Rubens
Hello
After burning a PQ Image directly to
to two CD-RWs using DriveImage 2002,
upon booting from its boot diskette,
it seems nothing can read the CD filesystem.
Nero 5.5 reports them as "Data CDs", and
even shows the correct used size in them,
but anyway is not able to show the files.

movies wont play by
Luis ORTEGA
I normally make reduced versions of our dv video projects as an archive for
our school and then burn the .mov files to a cd using nero 6 and win xp pro
on several computers.
everything seems to go okay during the burning process, and the original
files are fine, but the burned cds are very...

Can't write at 1x by
Joe Samangitak
I've since I got a Plextor burner, I notice that I am unable to set a
speed of 1x in every burning program I have, including PlexTools and
Nero, and despite whether I'm burning to a CD-R or CD-RW. 4X is the
minimum. Why is this? Is there something I have to set in my system?
I'm pretty sure I was...

Stupid question time by
Bob H
Ok, sorry if this has been asked before, and I know it is a stupid
question, but I have to ask as I have a senior moment here.
Is a *.iso file burnt onto a CDR automatically bootable, or should it be
burn as a bootable CDR?
Thanks

Windows XP "not" recognizing new CDROM Volume after swap by
Hugh Johnson
I am having a problem with my Windows XP Pro install. It has become
more apparent after installing several programs that use multiple
CDROMS to install.
Most multiple CD installs use the volume label of the CD to determine
if the disks were swapped. When I swap disks, say from Disk 1 to disk

MP9 write speed, TDK CD-Rs by
Richard
Though I'd contribute recent experience resolving quality issues with audio
CD-Rs.
I was having quality problems with audio CD-Rs in a new 6 CD changer
(Honda). The first 6-8 tracks played fine but then starting skipping,
popping and fading out. The last tracks were always unlistenable. ...

Article on CD-R life... Need Comment by
Dany Drapeau
I read an article recently on life of CD-R at this link
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/32593.html
After reading this I want to know if I have to test every 2 years my CD-R
for be sure it is OK or does I need to backup it every 2 years???
Does it have an other inexpensive and secure...

Future burners? by
Dan G
The next developments will be mostly in Serial-ATA burners and increased RW
speeds. A larger buffer is pretty useless, 2MB is plenty with current
under-run protections. The LiteOn 52246S produces equal or higher quality
burns than the Plextor, and does it on a wider range of media and at...

frustration setting in by
TrevorVA
Well, I'm fed up with trying to burn a vcd. I encoded the original .avi file
using TMPGEnc to mpeg1 standard vcd. = no problems. Using TMPGEnc again, I
split the .mpg into two more-or-less equal sizes to make the movie fit on to
two cd's. = no problems. Then the troubles started.
Using Nero 5.5 to...

Finally, an answer from Ahead Nero 6 Plugins (I think!) by
Guess Who
I was questioning whether or not the unlimited DVD and MPEG4 plugins were
included with the Nero 6 upgrade. Ahead finally answered me, at least I
think they did!
