AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton) core temperatures. by
Shinu George
Hi,
I built myself an XP 2500+ machine, and at no load it is showing a CPU
temperature of about 57C. I did not use any thermal grease like
Arctic Silver, used the stock fan supplied by AMD, and the ambient
temperature was about 30C. Am I running too hot?
Thanks,
PS: Am I asking this in the...

PC100 Memory by
Joe Boon
My computer is an old DFI PB61-V3 PIII 450MHz with
128MB PC100 SDRAM. I'd like to upgrade the memory to 256MB but sofar could
not find the exact type viz.:
LGS GM72V66841ET7J 9925 AA2.
I wonder whether there is any equivalent memory that I can use, also is the
memory mentioned here, ECC?
Thanks in...

Problem with Powerleap upgrade by
chrisv
Trying to use a Powerleap PL-P4/N adaptor to upgrade my work PC from
1.4GHz to 2.2GHz Northwood. Mobo is Intel D850GB. OS is Win2k SP3.
At first it wouldn't boot at all, so I flashed to latest BIOS. Now,
it boots most of the way (I even get a chance to log in), but just at
the tail-end of the...

Cbrom Award bios modification by
Fredrik
I want to modify my bios to include a etherboot PCI room. For that I need at
least 10,5K free space. Below you will find the output of "cbrom
mybios.bin /D"
Which of these components can be released from the bios without risk
flashing the computer with an invalid bios file. Can _all_ modules...

Vincent
I have searched for benchmarks on the celeron 2.7 ghz. Does anyone
have some benchmarks to post or a link. I know the earlier celerons
are not not very competitive, but what about the latest offerings?
TIA

DDR "2" - is this QD-RAM? by
David Winter
Mention was made yesterday in conversation with a PC assembler about DDR "2"
appearing on AGP cards in the near future - being the next "leading edge" in
the RAM technology.
Is this the QD-RAM or QDR-SD-RAM that some have mentioned over the past
little while? Reference was to 4...

Date/time stamp? by
CLF
Might be OT, but regardless, worth a shot...
Noticed that no matter how I set my regional settings (to use, for example
9/4/03 or 9-4-03, or to change 6:00pm to 18:00, or to change the 18:00 to
18.00), the date/time stamp looks how I set it up, and is arrangable in
chronical order, as it should...

Compaq Armada E500 Memory Question by
fastfwd
I need to get a 256 meg stick for the above mentioned laptop. I see these
specs listed: 256MB LP 1.15" 144 Pin PC100 32x64 SDRAM (16x8 MBGA) SODIMM as
being compatible. I'm uncertain about the 16x8 MBGA portion, would a module
with these specs work: 256MB Low Profile 144 Pin PC100 32x64 CL2...
