Radeon 9600 Pro, Win XP SP2, Acer 20" LCD - Can't use 1680x1050? by
Noozer
I've just purchased an Acer AL2032W LCD monitor. This is a 20" widescreen
monitor who's native resolution is 1680x1050.\
I've tried updating my ATI drivers to the latest. Installed Acers monitor
INF files. Even installed powerstrip, but I cannot get Windows XP Pro SP2 to
choose the native...

I went into Bios to reset the boot and there was no option of HD for
me to choose from. So what do I do now. It was working and then my
daughter got onto it and said it just stopped. How do I retrieve the
HD back in order to make it my boot choice? But before all this mess
started I had Window...

Graphics Card by
elziko
I have just bought a very cheap computer for a family member. It comes with
an Intel 82845G gaphics card built into the motherboard.
However, I have an old Voodoo 3 2000 AGP card lying around... is it worth
putting this in? Am I right in thinking that the Intel graphics controller
will use system...

Why Are My Network Connections Different? by
Gary Brown
Hi,
My PC, homebuilt with ASUS A7N8X V2.0 Deluxe MB, has two builtin
network ports. One is 3Com 3C920B-EMB and the other is NVIDIA
nForce MCP. Is therea reason for having different types and does it
affect usage?
No problems, just curious.
Thanks,

Intel LT430TX moitherboard driver by

I am currently searching for the Intel LT430TX motherboard driver.
Intel don't support it anymore and it can not be downloaded. Is there
anywhere else I can download it, as I desperately need it.

Hard Drive Formatting Problem by
woodglass
I installed a 40Gb Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 hard disk on an old PC.
I couldn't format it to 40Gb due to restrictions with the (old) motherboard.
I was able to format it to 10Gb.
Since then, I have fitted the drive to a different PC, but can't format it
to 40Gb as the BIOS 'sees' it as a 10Gb...

I just installed a PCI DVR board

No driver disks. Even on the Maxtor website, there's only drivers for

GPA card (not AGP) benefits? by
John Fryatt
Hi,
I recently acquired an older Gateway machine that uses the Intel 815
chipset. It has motherboard-integrated graphics.
For better performance I've fitted a separate AGP video card.
Recently I found out about a thing Intel call a Graphics Performance
Accelerator (GPA). As far as I can tell it a...

How can I use all the buttons of my trackball? by

I recently purchased a Kinsington trackball
(http://www.clubic.com/photo/00111749.jpg), but there's no driver for
Windows XP x64. I'd like to use the 4 buttons around the ball, especially
the top-left and top-right. I'd like to map the following events this way:
- On click on top-left button:...

Hard drive - 137 Gb Barrier by
Zed Rafi
Hello all,
I want to buy a 200 Gb hard drive to put on my girlfriend's computer.
Someone on this NG told me that according to the RAM speed my MOBO supports
(ddr PC2100), my mobo's BIOS probably doesn't support drives larger than 137
Gb ones. My MOBO is a Gigabyte GA-7VM400M.
How can i check if...

Installing New HD by

I am presently installing a second HD (Maxtor 120gb). I had planned to
format it using Windows disk management. The instructions shows preference
to use the MaxBlast4 software for formatting. I just don't like to install
software like this unless it is really worth it. Am I missing anything...

Hard disk rubber jackets by
John Fryatt
Hi,
I've just been re-jigging some kit and installing a Seagate HD. This
particular Gateway machine has a tool-less arrangement for fitting hard
disks which conflicts with the rubber jacket on the Seagate disk. It
kind of rucks up as you slide it in. Currently I've taken the jacket off
and it...

KVM on PCMCIA? by
Jaz
Does anyone know of a PCMCIA card that houses a KVM?
The idea is to have laptop's keyboard, video, and mouse act as a
console via a KVM built into a PC card, which would have PS2 & HD15
connections for the rack server.
We have techs who visit various computer server rooms, and thay'd like
the...

GeForce s-video jacks? by

Hello all...I'm having a problem. Well, sort of. I used to have a
GeForce 2 MX video card, with an s-video output, which was a standard
4-pin jack with which I could use standard s-video cables or
adapters. Recently I bought a new card, a GeForce 6600 GT, which
also has an s-video output, but...
