How would you store 100TB data? by
[email protected]
Hi, I'm a student and out of my curiousness I want to know how data
centers usually store their data. Some mail provider liker Gmail and
Hotmail must have huge volume of data, even properly compressed. I just
can't imagine they could store it in hard drives. Is there any special
devices?
Thanks in...

HP 30/FC support resources by
Secessionist
We have 2 x HP 30/FC chassis.
The units run PROM code 0173.
The controllers run the Clariion Flare OS. It is my understanding that
version 9.56.03 Flare Code adds support for 36G drives in the array.
Couple of questions:
i) Does anyone know a source for 36G disks with 9.56.03 Flare Code?

[email protected]
Hi,
I thought we had everything covered, but we still have issues. I
can't find HP's "Checklist" for Windows hosts on a SAN (for backup).
Our Windows group thought they had it but noone can find it. We have a
mix of 2000 and 2003. Anybody gotta link to a doc/web/pdf?
Thanks,
Tom

Greetings:
We purchased an HP EVA 3000 about a year ago and currently have it connected
only to an HP ES40 running OpenVMS. We have just purchased an ES47 to replace
the ES40 and thought we could just move the fibre cables from the old server
to the new server, change the WWIDs in Command View...

Jesus
We are in the process of setting up a SAN of 2TBs and we are trying to
decide between these two systems. EVA3000 permits virtualraid. IBM?
For example, with 14 discs, EVA permits me to make a lun, partition it
in different raid types to use it in the distinct servers. IBM?
Can anyone help out?...

HP EVA4000 / IBM DS4300 / EMC CX3-20/40 by
[email protected]
We have a new solution out for design and three different vendors have
put forward three different SANs.
1. IBM4300 - seems to be more clunky on the UI than the HP and is
bagged by the other vendors as being a "basic" SAn, it is meant to be
poor because the operaotr still has select which physical...

HP EVA6000 vs DS4700 by
apples
I'm looking for some comments/feedback on the EVA6000 versus the
DS4700. I've read the specifications and gotten the pitch from each
vendor and personally I don't see that much difference between them.
As well, we're probably going to be connecting an IBM p550Q to the
storage and use VIO for a...

HP MSA 1500 - Hubs for redundancy? by
Kat
We have an MSA 1500 with dual controllers. Each had a single HBA, and each
HBA attached to a seperate switch. When one of the HBA's in a server failed,
we discovered that the path to the standby controller did not function,
obviously. So we were told my HP to buy a switch or a hub to rpovide...

HP MSA1500 support Sun Solaris by
Sync Walantaji
Hi,
Accroding to the HP MSA1500 spec, it does not list Sun Solaris as a
supported platform.
What does this mean?
Can I still connect it to a HBA on Sun box? Will I be able to see the
LUN allocated?
Thanks
