Old mobo locks up intermittently and/or reboots on shutdown by
Bill Barker
Please help!
I posted this last week to a coupla dozen newsgroups, but never saw
my original
message pop up, so I'm trying again.
I have an ASUS P5A-B mobo with the latest BIOS installed (1105).
It has an AMD-K6-2/500AFX processor. All mobo jumpers are correct for
this CPU.

capture the
screens.
It's the new one, free 2005

P4E runs way too HOT! by
fish
I'm running a P4E 3.0 on an Abit IS7 main board.
With the stock HSF the temps were fairly high, in the low 50ºc. Case is very
well ventilated, it's a server 'rack mount' unit with a 120mm Panaflow
blowing in and across the board as well as an Enermax PSU. I built the
machine for some video...

Supermicro X5DAE & 800MHz Xeons? by
[email protected]
Hello,
I'm running a pair of 2.4GHz (533 FSB) Xeons in a X5DAE board quite
happily. I can get my hands on a pair of used 3.2GHz (800MHz FSB, 1MB
L2) processors for next to nothing - I wonder if it's worth it though.
I should be able to plug the CPUs in, but if the new ones are locked to
a 4x...

Memory CL equivalence by
Enrique Blanco
Hi,
I've been looking for an answer but I cant find any!
My motherboard supports only 266 DDR, I've installed 2 Infineon 512Mb
266 DDR CL2 modules. I want to increase the RAM, but 1Gb 266 CL2
modules are hard to find (and harder to buy, they are damn
expensive!!).
¿Can I install a 1Gb 333 CL2.5...

Underclocking a 3.0 GHz processor down by
Albert Wiersch
I have an older MB that can probably not take a P4 3.0 GHz processor (Asus
P4GE-V). Can I safely use the 3.0 GHz processer at a slower speed (say 2.6
or 2.4 GHz)? Will it worked? Is the processor locked at a certain speed?
Could it damage the processor or motherboard?
Thank you.

Peltier element by
dj
I've used, to my great satisfaction, the combination of watercooling and a
Peltier element on my beloved Celeron 300A.
Now i have a P4 2.8 running @ 3.0 and want to take up watercooling again.
The question is, what if the cold-plate gets hotter than the hot-plate? Is
this this possible? (in a real...

Celeron D Success Story by
Pat
Hey all, just thought I'd post an overclocking success story. Please offer
any advice for performance enhancements.
I'm using a Celeron D 2.4 Ghz (18 X 133 mhz) I basically just cranked up the
FSB to 200 mhz. Instant 3.6 Ghz Celeron. Its the prescott core, so its got
256 k cache. I'm using retail...

P4PE 800mhz upgrade? by
Gerry
I am running this MB with 2.4mhz 533 cpu and pc 3200 memory. Is it true
that the board can be
upgraded to 800mhz by using the latest bios and a P4 800mhz cpu with
400mhz ddr memory?
If so can I use higher speed cpu's such as 3.2 or 3.4? And will the
system overclock easily?

Kingwin Artic Liquid Cooler - Group Thoughts by
[email protected]
I am hoping someone in the group or one of the mods could give their
thoughts on the Kingwin system. Currently running Zal 7000a with no
complaints, but find the thought of further reduced temps and noise
inviting, albeit somewhat leary of H2O inside the system. Thank you for any
and all...

Thermalright SI-97 dimensions by

Hi,
I am considering purchasing the Thermalright SI-97, but I have a
particularly annoying fan holder behind the CPU socket and am concerned
about whther the heatsink will still fit. What is the distance from
where the heatpipes are vertical and the area contacting the CPU diode
on the...

Epox 8kha+ and AthlonXP Mobile 2600 by
BRH
Does anyone know whether the Epox 8Kha+ motherboard supports the
AthlonXP Mobile 2600 CPU? This CPU has a 266 FSB, but has a Barton
core, so I'm not sure whether it will run with this motherboard.
Officially, the fastest CPU supported by this motherboard, per Epox, is
an AthlonXP2600...

RH, please advise by
Rich
I'm an owner of a P4 3E cpu running at 3.6 on factory, stock cooling. The
system appears to be very stable.
But your remark of Intel: "They f*cked it up, and they know it better than
anyone" has me worried that, overclocked or not, my device may not be
reliable.
Are you sure Intel shouldn't be sued?
