leegold
I have a maxtor ATA133 80GB hard drive, I have not attempted to
fdisk/format it yet. I have a slightly old slot 1 pIII motherboard.
I also have installed a maxtor (really is a Promise brand) ATA133 pci
slot card because the motherboard only supports ATA33.
I plan to multiboot a few different...

Hard Drive Install by
Lou Pratt
Is there any reason why I shouldn't mount a hard drive (Maxtor 40
gb 7200 rpm) upside down? By doing so I'd be able to separate the
two hd's I now have installed and achieve better cooling. There
are mounting brackets that extend below the case's hard drive
holder and the the only way the hd can be...

Falco98
So my roommate just bout the components for a new system. Little did we
know, the 2 behemoth 120G maxtors we selected were both Serial ATA,
something of which I was relatively unaware up until now. The motherboard
has SATA slots and all, but when he tries to boot from the XP CD intending

can you actually buy thermal pads on their own for CPUs? by
spodosaurus
As the subject line goes, can you buy thermal pads to go between a CPU
and heat sink on their own? I've only ever seen them when they've come
along with a heat sink (pre-attached to the heat sink).

Soyo KT 333 and Maxtor 160 - Second Drive Unseen by
Alex
I am stumped. After a crash I installed a new Maxtor 160 gig drive in a PC
with a Soyo KT 333 Dragon Ultra Platinum. Previously this machine had a 120
gig C: drive and an 80 gig secondary drive:. After installing the 160 with
XP Pro, as the only drive on the primary channel, it does not see the...

Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB crashing and too light by
Mitchua
A few weeks ago my Radeon 7000 started acting all funky. First it started
crashing out of 3D games. I thought it was the game so I tried to reinstall
but then I noticed that even outside the games the screen is lighter than
normal sometimes. When I click around the Display settings it will...

My First LCD Monitor--Help Needed for Small & Cheap Selection... by
Will Mercer
I need to take my PC (a notebook won't do) on the road for a couple of
months and I can't lug around my regular monitor. So I need to buy a
small, cheap flat screen. I don't need the best by any means--I just
need one that won't fail and that will work with my system: Radeon

Putting an ATX MotherBoard in an AT Case/PSU by
BTHOMASinOHIO
The Power Supply went out on my 350 MMX P2 which is in an ATX Case
(Power supply has one large plug to MotherBoard - hence ATX Case and
Power Supply).
I have an AT Case with an AT Power Supply (two smaller plugs) that I
painted up with Flames on it (yes, I'm a Computer Dork whom builds
Cars).
I...

Motherboard Suggestions by
Andy McCormack
Hi guys,
I'm planning on building an AMD Athlon XP2800+ or 3000+ and have been out of
touch with motherboards for a bit now.
I'm currently running an Athlon T'bird 1.4ghz on an Abit KG7-Raid and have
loved this board, so would feel comfortable running another Abit. I have
also heard a huge amount...

I've been trying to sell a Celeron 500MHz system for a long time (for more
than $100, thanks Ebay :-)) and there have been no takers. It has a good
sized hard-drive, RAM, CD, etc. but I think the "500MHz" is scaring everyone
away. I have a ECS socket A mobo lying around. Should I dish out...

Hi,
My new system will be arriving shortly and although this question is a little
on the generic side I'm sure some will have suggestions that I hadn't thought
of. Basically, I'm polling to see which softwares people use to secure the
ship and keep it running smoothly. So far, it seems that the...
