Chrome blasts XP out of the water when I Exit from it by
John B. Smith
My employer uses Google Chrome for their OS (it's a school). I
installed some variant of the Chrome browser on my WindowsXP desktop
and am able to sign onto the school's website, get my email, view
paychecks, ask for time off, info on snow days etc. Very useful. I
can't make out what version of...

DAC Everything by
Flasherly[_2_]
I found some $3000/US DAC units.
I got the cheapest on Amazon, the most people like, and had to
immediately take it apart. Poor construction tolerances for a 1/8"
headphone jack, and had to modify the case accordingly. Actually, an
Ebay item, sold for "new" from someone dealing only in items of...

Nice by
Flasherly[_2_]
Got the NEOTECH DAC. Smaller USB PWR plug & basically the same as the
older unit.
Except the NEOTECH headphone output plug works. The old unit was pure
static, run simultaneously with the TOSLINK engaged, with the same
static bleeding, regardless, into the TOSLINK with the sensitivity
jacked up...

Stereo PC crap [AKA: digital domain audio/visual] by
Flasherly[_2_]
Swapped out one of two ASUS Xonar's, I have, in duplicated models.
Seems I managed to break the primary backplane stereo/quad (archaic:
duplicity) over various two-amp configurations, as well as in
mixer-board blending.
Anyway, I went to S/PDIF in TOSLINK laser-carrier modulation. Which
doesn't...

Anti-virus for XP? by
John B. Smith
I just noticed, finally, that my Avast is 'no longer supported for XP
or Vista'. I'm looking for a free antivirus and it seems to be a tough
hunt. I finally downloaded something from Scanguard, but it's not
really free, just runs a scan for you, there's no real-time
protection. I wasn't able to...

TeeVee audio amp gaving it up by
Flasherly[_2_]
Cold weather operation, which may change when warmer.
Software auto-off/on LED television function. Switched back on,
there's a minute or two delay, after which, the audio amplifier goes
nuts, into a full-volume condition similar to white-noise. Vol turned
fully off still leaks some discernable...

GBps to MB/s by
amdx[_2_]
To prevent spambots I need to answer this question to confirm
registration to a forum.
If USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 speed is 10Gbps, What is the speed of 10Gbps in
MB/s (Answer must include MB/s):
I thought it would just be Gig to Meg or 1000, but I get that is an
invalid answer, So I googled and...

Lengthen the life of Windows 7 using the legal system by
Mr. Man-wai Chang
Can a class-action suit be filed to US Court to force Micro$oft to
extend its support for Windows 7?
I do NOT think Windows 10 is ready for the prime time, it's update is
absolutely as horrifying as a data doomsday.

Jim[_38_]
Hi everyone, so i have been backing up data/movies to DVD for years and
it's served me well, i know many will say optical drives and media are
