Can I make my power supply fan turn faster? by [email protected]
The fan is making noise. I can stop it with a pencil. I sprayed a jet of wd 40. It is a little more quiet. I think if I could get it spinning faster and give it one more burst, it might hit the spot.

AMD and a hot date to flirt at the horrorshow by Flasherly[_2_]
(HexDump seldom-crashed messaged bits&pieces) CoreTemp and SpeedFan freewares. (And a lot of disparities between the two and how AMD's implementing sensors. The "tester" may have a better sense than CoreTemp programmer's treatment, i.e. marginality for offsets somehow seem a...

Viscous Dissipation by Flasherly[_2_]
Chinese Pulley: $2/US Stainless steel. Fixed centre shaft. Single pulley wheel rides directly on shaft, e.g. no intermediary ball bearings. M2 (? Chinese) rating: Guesstimate a working load around 100lb. max for practical eyeballing (at the pulley) - probably advertised for twice or more that,...

Microscopically Matching Braided USB [Keyboard] Cable by Flasherly[_2_]
After repeated key failures, repeated instances of disassembling the keyboard to individually fix them, this has inevitably turned into a jOb perspective. But I've also a workable Chinese soldering station, fine-tipped and adjustable to 25- or 40-watt. I therefore KNOW, now, that this little...

Greased Pigs by Flasherly[_2_]

Power Button Problems by [email protected]
I have an Optiplex 360 that I cannot turn on because of a faulty power button. I have no idea how to repair this since I cannot get to the power button, which is sandwiched in between the plastic case and a metal cage. There is a small circuit board which a 20 pin cable(XT029) is attached to and...

USB 3.0 hub question by Yes[_2_]
I'm thinking about buying a USB 3.0 external hub for my pc. I'm looking for one that has about an 18 to 20 inch cable length and will use the older 3.0 USB connectors (Type A ???). Are there any hubs being made that fit those conditions? Who is making them? The ones I saw at newegg look to have...

Is Class 1 laser safe enough for baby eyes? by Mr. Man-wai Chang
I meant, what if someone accidentally shine Class 1 laser into a baby's eyes? Would it hurt retina and leave a permanent damage? I know ... I know... it should NOT happen. Adults are supposed to be very very careful. :) -- @~@ Remain silent! Drink, Blink, Stretch! Live long and prosper!! ...

USB Power Surges and Kills It by Flasherly[_2_]
Bought a 115V to USB Adaptor. I don't believe I've even got a year usage out of it. Had a power outage and an external processor, serving for SPDIF red-laser audio to analogue conversion, would not power back up. (I like it for when mixing processed signals for it's part as an oversamped...

will we see 2.5/5 Gbps ethernet?? by [email protected]
Seems to me to be a real need for this. If you're pulling data off an NAS at 1 Gbps, that is lukewarm green disk speed. But 10 Gbps is pushing **** uphill over old cables. If 2.5GBASE-T hardware were readily available, I would start upgrading my rigs.

My home system now accesses the internet via Hughesnet. I have the Hughesnet router with an ethernet connection to my ASUS RT-AC66U router. From there I am CAT5A wired to computers and TVs via wires from both the ASUS and a 8 port Netgear switch (GS208). I have a few handheld devices (phones,...
